You're not a geek sbk, they are both fun shows to watch.

Cheers Dave, I have had mixed reviews about S2 but I just love the show & have a rather sick crush on DCI Hunt :o

"You say that like it's a bad thing" Hunts reply after being called an overweight, bigotted, homophobic, racist, borderline alcoholic :D

Hi Boo

Not sure if you are refering to Life on Mars S2 or Ashes to Ashes (the sequal).

Now downloaded and started watching A to A, Got all the Gene Hunt one-liners, Cortina changed to Audi Quattro, Rockers now New Romantics& Thatcherites.

Good Fun and so far, as good as series 1 & 2 of Life on Mars IMHO

Dave

Is Life on Mars S2. Have got to wait for the re runs (don't really do downloading) & had no idea about Ashes to Ashes so will be keeping an eye out for that too.

Gene Hunt, even his name is saucy. Lol, what is wrong with me :o

...And Red Dwarf.

Indeed this must be one of the worst attempted versions in television history - how it left the edit suite is a mystery.

If I recall some of the UK actors were used - but to little positive effect.

Hey? Red Dwarf was a great bit of British humour.

I had no idea they attempted a US version of Red Dwarf! The mind boggles :o

Apologies, bowings, scrapings and many touchings of my brim to the Cuban. I was out of context because I'd not re-checked the context of Thad's comment about RD. Sorry about that, Stogie!

Yep, I only hop on my mouse to change feet...

Very rarely do Yank copies of brit humour come over anywhere as good.

Possible exception, Archie Bunker's efforts

I used to like Green Wing. I think the second series had just finished when I left for LOS. Is it still on?

no, that ended too.

The dark haired doctor is in a new show called free agents which is turnign out to be quite good, if it is available for downloading have a look.

"Last of the Summer Wine"

That was , is and always will be tops.

Ammurricuns could never copy it in a 100 years,

So much Brit comedy is unique to Britain.

This makes me think about something that has been on my mind for awhile. Is American really unique or just bits of other cultures humor? Is American humor understood and enjoyed outside the States?

One of the best shows imo on tv today. Two and a half men. American original :o

American humour is appreciated all over, many US shows make it to British TV. It seems to be the other way, ie Britian to US that causes so many problems, hence all the poor remakes. :o

:D

What makes him so good is how he plays the anti-hero, but essentially good guy so well.

Him and his two side-kicks beat the h.ell out of the wrong guy ( a bad guy but not in this case ), whilst the black sergeant tries to restrain them, the next day when it is obvious he is innocent of the crime, Gene Hunt

Viv Richards is a great cricketer and you realise that is the only apology you are going to get
incredibly racist, in context not even funny, but actually quite moving. If you haven't seen it, it is worth a look, simply so it doesn't make my post seem so bad.

But if anybody remembers the West Midland Serious Crime squad had to be disbanded because the general public had lost faith in their integrity, it really strikes a cord.

Now that has me chuckling every time I watch, the mad neighbour........... :D

Moss

I think that is one of the things I like about LOM, it is a social commentary of the times as well. Hunt is a total pig bastard but he is one of the god guys underneath it all, I like how Sam forces him to look at himself a bit more & raise his moral standard but at the same time you can sort of see where all the PC came from eventually & why it had to change.

Two & a half men is great, I turned SBK onto it too & I think she downloaded the whole lot & watched it in one go. Techie nerd that she is :o My favorite character is Evelyn, the mum. The least maternal women on the planet.

When asked by if Charlie was breast fed Evelyn replies: "Of course he was.....not by me, but he was" :D

I agree with "Two and a Half Men", only blemish is the totally un-needed canned laffta, spoils it.

I guess to go to the funniest and most irreverent of racist shows.....

"Bless Thy Neighbour" must win, hands down.

Brits again, dunno if an amurricun copy was produced.

We in our group still call each othere, Honkys and Nig Nogs.

Really? I know which show that is but I have never watched it. The ads always make it seem lame.

Someone has mentioned All In The Family already, but I didn't know it was a remake from Brit TV. That show really pushed it with the views of racism but all in a attempt to discredit such ideas.

Sanford and Son was a better knock off IMHO

I've been disappointed with British tv when the socialists killed all the individuals in the final of Blakes 7.

Anyone remember the American show called Soap ?

I thought it was one of the better efforts out of the US.

Soap - yes, I thought it was a funny show in its day. It had a less successful spin-off called Benson (who was the butler in Soap).

Yes, SOAP was brilliantly written, one of the US best.

Cast was great and went on to better things.

Archie Bunker was a clone of Alf Garnett, who was fab.

"Bless Thy Neighbour" must win, hands down.

Hmmm, was this an attempt by the US to combine two stalwarts of British 70s sitcoms, or a simple typo?

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

a bit off topic but....

yesterday mr Boo was watching something from the thai tv website & I caught a glimpse of what was supposed to be a ghosty women being all ghosty & evil like (the actress was really hamming it up tho) & a monk in saffron robes chanting & dispelling her with majics whilst a bunch of villagers cowered behind him with pitchforks (in what I thoguht was a joking & OTT manner)..

Me : is that a comedy?

Mr Boo: no, ghost drama.

Thai tv, shittest ever. :o

That and all the soaps on channels 3 and 7. Gawd, I thought our soapies were bad...

Is there any good Thai TV, because I have yet to hear a good word spoken on the subject?
