Laptop Advice

Hello all,

I have a Sony VAIO laptop and it's practically falling apart on me. The keys stick, the left mouse clicker on the touch pad is going, the battery is gone and now the CD/DVD drive is shot. It's is about a year and half old but I'm quite dissapointed. I have been careful with it and I don't see any reason for it to be doing so poorly.

Ok, to cut to the chase. I would like to know what fellow forum members would recommend. I would also like to know of any websites that have reliable and detailed reviews and ratings. Perhaps something similar to dpreview.com but for computers. Thanks in advance.... :o

Make the switch. Macbook Pro 15.4" 2.66ghz 320gb HD, 4gb DDR3 Memory, Nvidia 9600GT 512mb, Nvidia 9400m, LED Backlit screen, Wireless N

You know you want too :o

I have Vaio;it had bad dvd drive which gradually became very choosie about discs it wanted to play:"only originals".Then ,by accident I had poured half a littre of orange juice on keyboard.

There was no choice - I went to service. They changed keyboard and touchpad, they changed dvddrive. The demage? - 300$.Now - its like new.I love it,cause its light(1.5kg) and I can play some games.

If you like games I recommend you cheap gaming laptop:"JoyBook S42" from BenQ,it will cost you - 1000$ only;it has - 9600GT graphic card, you can play any game. Its not 1.5kg but 2.5kg,not too bad.

Its available in LOS but a bit more demage(40000B without OS).You want MacPro?(same graphic card 9600) - then its 3000$ more.Choice is your or your wallet.

Don't know where you buy your Macs from. But a Macbook Pro with Nvidia 9600GT us$1999

I think i'd rather spend an extra $999 and get the aluminum construction LED backlit screen and of course the second built in graphics card for power saving 1.5gb more of DDR3 memory.

Guess you get what you pay for at the end of the day.

I mostly use Dell now and for the last 2 years no problems. Before had a Toshiba Tecra for 3 years and it was still going strong before I changed to a Dell.

Yes!Yes!I looked MacPro in Australia in local curency, top model,so I made mistake - it may be at least 2k$.

Joybook,I recommended is cheap, but it doesnt look cheap - nice, unusual design,it has HDMI interface for big monitor, double graphics;for many people 100%difference in price or 1000$

is A LOT of monies,at least in LOS

you can spend a lot more for gaming notebook- Samsung R560 is even better choice, but heavy, about 1500$you can not buy it in many

countries,unfortunatly.
