Just seen an interview with Colin W***er on SSN. Said how the chairman had only offered Sh*ff Utd the minimum 3k, but he told him to give Sh*ff Utd the whole 7k for the stand. Then pretty much next sentence he goes on about how the atmosphere will make it difficult for his Crystal Palace!

Nailed on Sh*ff Utd win. I'm undecided on whether I want them to come up, so can't make my mind up if I approve Colin rigging this match for his old club. which he will. :)

Well,,,its Brums to lose really,,,irrespective of Utds game.

Cant see any rigging going on . Sheff Utd are a better side than CP. Fact.

Lets hope we meet up soon eh? Remember the last time we played ,,,,I think you lost 3-1 ,,,,is that correct?

As for Sunday.

MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN

Twas the third worst performance & result of the Season that was Mate..

But you're wrong, you won 3-0 ( we wouldn't have scored in that Game if we played all month :D ) & absolutely ruined us & it was great because it made you think you'd stayed up & then you were on a Par with St Johnstone for the rest of your League Games giving us a kick up the arse & allowing us to go on a run of Games, winning 4 out of 5 following on from 3 out of 3 before our Game with you including Arsenal & Man United Away ( which you can't do if you're a one Man Team even though the Premier League seemed to believe so :) ) obtain enough points to comfortably stay up in the end... :D

I hope you come up, we owe you a spanking for taking our money !! :D

Both of these matches can be watched on the Internet with a decent connection PM for details. Watching the Hatton fight now with the build up fights all crystal clear.

Well play offs it is then,,,,and we face Preston who are in great shape at the moment.

Not too impressed with Uniteds performance at CP,,,anyway the outcome would have been irrelevent to our auto promo hopes.

Congrats to Birmingham.

PNE at Wembly is who I expect to play, Ignore us at your peril

up the clarets :)

Ah a Burnley fan at last :D

We won't ignore you or take you lightly, it's gonna be tough for us for sure.

We would rarther play both matches at your place since we have not won at home since there was snow on the pitch in January:(

But all Reading fans live in hope :D

See you Saturday

Almost 5 am and just listened to the first leg of the Preston play off. 1-1

What a game,,shame Utd could,nt see the game off but The Blades dominated it,,especially the second half..

Howard saw to that scoring within 1 minute into it.

So Monday night at the Lane,,,COME ON UNITED!!!!!!!!!

A very tricky tie, and you did well.

In your hands now,

If we don't win the play-offs then I hope you do. It would give me great pleasure to se Darius in the top flight, I never understood why we sold him. He has done very well for himself, established himself at Watford then did the same at United, and is a strong powerful striker.

Good luck on Monday, but as Brum know, you can't write off Preston.

It's my turn to put in the night shift you have just done tonight, although our first leg kicks off at 11.45 Thai time so I won't have to stay up as late as you.

Preston V Sheffield United

I managed to see the game on the internet in the early hours of this morning but in all honesty Preston where piss poor, short of ideas and spent the whole 90 minutes hoofing long balls high into the air hoping Sheffield’s defenders would make a mistake.

It was schoolboy tactics of ‘kick and hope’.

As a manager Alan Irvine should have considered that it’s not that long since Sheffield united where in the premiership and dealing with Preston’s inept game of pumping high balls at them especially with two lines of defenders strung across the back it was easy to deal with and never going to work.

Sheffield adopted a defensive style of play relying on the break and it worked well.

Preston on the other hand looked every bit a middle of the table championship team with not one single player that could hold the ball, not one player who had the skill and ability to take on and beat a defender, rarely strung more than two passes together and defenders who hoofed it high into the air every time the ball came near them

Why Alan Irvine never dumped the high ball tactic and tried to outplay them on the ground beats me.

Tacticly he made a mess of things.

Only two players in my opinion turned up for Preston which was the goal-keeper Andrew Lonnegan and Ian St Ledger a central defender and looking at the PNE forum this morning it’s also the opinion of many supporters who saw the game.

I found myself sat watching and wondering when Sheffield would score another goal they had that much of the play.

On that showing Preston needs a minor miracle to get a result at Sheffield and their supporters must have gone home happy, thinking they will be going to Wembley later this month.

I streamed the game on my computer pulling in a signal from a Chinese sports channel, the other choice was a sports channel in Iraq.

The commentaries where in either Chinese or Iraqi so I chose the one from China as the picture held up well, never froze or buffered once but turned the sound down to a point where I could just about hear the crowd so to speak and watched it that way.

The quality was on a par with Thai cable TV (Ha-sip ha-sip quality) but who cares I saw the game.

Shame the result wasn’t better for Preston but let’s not forget its half time and one apiece.

PS: I’m an expat from Preston.

We,re off to Wembley !!! :D

Again,,United dominated the game despite the narrow result.

Fair play to Preston , but they only got into the game in a couple of dangerous small spells in the second half.

Its 4.45 am here and I,ve got to go work soon...........with a smile :)

One game away from the Premiership

hi Blades, anyone from chiangmai? if so do you have a venue for watching the final on the 25th?

I,ve been expecting you Mr Alant............................... ( in a Doctor Evil kind of accent).

Well mate,,I,m stuck in Singapore for the game,,so if by any chance you find yourself stuck in Singapore also, there are plenty of places to watch it.

I,ve never met a Blade fan here in all the time I,ve been here (almost 8 years) never mind a Burnley fan.

So what do you think?

One game away from glory. I realise that Burnley have,nt been in the top flight for many years so the game will be intense to say the least. The last time Sheff Utd had a play off was with Wolves in 2003 and we lost 3-0,,Neil Warnock was sent off and it was really dreadful.

Reading were the side to beat and Burnley have done it , cant take that away.

On an equally bright note, I will be coming home 2 weeks after the game..wife and kids are waiting in Korat.

Good to see you unloaded Akinbyi by the way.......I was,nt impressed although he did score against Sheff Wed for The Blades.

Cheers

hey alan, you'll no doubt find a few fans up for watching in chiang mai, though as mentioned in the CM forum, you might find that it clashes with a popular quiz at tuskers bar that night. the recommendation you got for the un irish pub is probably the best shout, they'll have it on.

thanks for the comments, i agree re Akinbyi.

Singapore certainly seems to have sport coverage, I was "required" to go on a business trip to there and Malaysia when the Japan/Korea world cup was on. I refused to go unless they guaranteed me seeing the opening game and the first Englang game on TV which they agreed to and booked me into a hotel with a Man U bar attached, as you know I am not Man U but the viewing capability was great made even better as France lost. As for the England game, I was in Malasia in a bar, cought in a mega storm that cut the satelite, i relayed the game via mobile over the pa.

Really looking forward to this game big v little we start as underdogs I guess and it is 33years since we were in what was then the 1st division, remember it well and the only way I wil get to see Burnley week in week out wil be in the premiership (unless true can that as well) plus 1 more thing Sheffield = Yorkshire! Need I say more! :)

You want to make it a battle of the Roses?

My Dad is from Lancaster and when we did the drag up there to see my grand parents ,passing Saddleworth Moor on the M62 and seeing the Red Rose of Lancashire made me feel I was in another country. My Grandad took us catching Salmon on the Lune before it was light,I,ll never forget that experience,,In fact I really feel sorry for kids that,ll not have that exposure. My Grandad was a policeman and had a connection with nature , the bath tub graced some bloody big Salmon.

I really doubt that there are any Salmon in the river Lune now.......and that is really sad.

Sadly,,my only connection now with Lancashire is my Dads brother and his missus who live in Wigan......I think Wigan could do a cultural twin town exchange with Rotherham....in a positive kind of way,,as they both have nothing going for them..

Sorry Uncle John

Look forward to the game,,,,,and what a game it,ll be.

Two weeks after I,ll be off to meet up with the wife and kids in Korat ,,,,,,with good news.

My missus has been to Bramall Lane , and saw a 0-0 draw with Stoke.

No wonder she has no affection for football :) .

Cheers
