A new section of Karon Stadium is under construction and will be due to finish at around the 25th of August. Karon Municipality Mayor, Tawee Thongchaem, confirmed to Andaman News that right now due to lack of grass the stadium does not meet the qualified standard. Many things are due for major changes, such as laying down new grass, electricity/floodlight posts being re-constructed, fences being re-set up, and building a new 3 storey stand. The budget had been set aside at 13.6 million baht. By having the stadium rebuilt, the municipality believes that it will give new impressions to all sport players and teams, locally or internationally. In the meantime, the Phuket International Cricket Sixes tournament is due to be played there from 16-19 April. Mark Burns, their Media Director, told Andaman News that they are aware of the works program at Karon Stadium and have been in touch with the Municipality authorities regarding the issue for some time. They have agreed with the local government that construction work will not take place at the ground while the Phuket Sixes is being played and they are satisfied with this agreement. They applaud the initiative to upgrade the facilities at Karon Stadium for the long term benefit of the community and future sports events in Phuket. They are looking forward to a fantastic week of cricket and camaraderie as usual at this year's 6th Phuket International Cricket Sixes which will be played daily from 9am - 5pm from 16-19th April.

Ah yes, more projects with inflated budgets ripe for the skimming.

Patak road widening project had a nice budget to be done right but they are cutting corners and you can see it

Saw them leveling the road with a farm tractor pulling a homemade contraption with 6 workers weighing it down, No heavy equipment.

Laying emolium in the rain only to see the rainbow oil slick roll down the hill towards the sea.

It's slow going and we know why, cutting corners means more money for fortuners and mia noi.
