In the "Malaysia Truly Asia" spots on TV you might have noticed pictures of some roughed lime stone formations sticking out of the jungle. That is all part of Mulu National Park (http://www.mulupark.com/) on the Borneo island. The caves, holding some 3 million bats, are also shown in David Attenborough's "The Blue Planet" serie.

Anyhow, I visited there last weekend and I must say Malaysia have done a VERY good job. The resort is great, tours very well organized with well marked trails on wooden planks even inside the caves. No extra admission fees what so ever, no annoying street sellers. On top of that relative cheap. US-$300 including flights from Miri, 2 night in Deluxe room, 6 meals, 2 tours with guide and airport pick up.

Malaysia is great...I've been to Borneo many times for diving...both in KK and Sipadan. People are great, most things well organized, great and cheap eats, decent infrastructure. I would seriously consider relocating there but I love my moo much too much and the non-feathered chickens are a little thin on the ground compared to Thailand.

Nice, that kind of getaway is just my thing..

Put that in the must do soon category..

Mulu looks great indeed but why go there if you can experience exactly the same here in Khao Sok N.P. and Phang Nga Bay Marine N.P.

Did you go via Miri? What is Miri like?

I did fly out of Miri airport, but Miri is not really that interesting. As a city, KK to the east of Brunei has much more to offer.
