Bangkok Motorbike Festival 2009

Big bikes for big boys

Have you ever wondered why boys love toy cars and girls love dolls? You might not be able to give a clear answer but you can probably tell from your own experience that the passion for those little playthings never dies - and sometimes it even grows up with you.

While the blissful Barbies and Blythes are strutting their way into most ladies' collections of luxurious toys, many men find their leisure time taken up in the garage - pampering their automobiles.

And there is good news for all motorcycle lovers. From today until May 3, they will have a rare chance to witness the newest and coolest motorbikes from famous brands from around the world during the "Bangkok Motorbike Festival 2009: Ride Your Own Legend" at CentralWorld.

Held for the first time ever in the Kingdom, the festival puts on show the latest models from such leading brands as Harley-Davidson from the US, Triumph from the UK, Kawasaki and Yamaha from Japan, Sachs and BMW from Germany, Can Am from Canada, Ducati from Italy, and more.

Also on exhibition are vintage and rare collectable bikes, as well as custom bikes by local enthusiasts, while some experts on motorcycle manufacturing and riding will share their techniques and experiences in talk shows.

Taking up most of the spaces of the festival are booths from leading brands and motorbike groups and teams such as Immortals, X-bone, Octopus and Commander City. There is also a heart-pumping stunt show daily at 5pm and 7pm throughout the 3-day event.

This is a good excuse to hop on your favourite bike and speed away from home to have a cold drink and nice chat with your biker friends. Let's have the big toys over there make your day and leave behind the boredom with the current political chaos. Let's get some excitement seeing the little toys from your good old days turned into a real size for a big boy like you.

The "Bangkok Motorbike Festival 2009: Ride Your Own Legend" is running at CentralWorld from May 1-3 from 10am-10pm.
