Belgian girl's tattoo 'nightmare'

starsarefug1.jpgstarsarefug2.jpg

Police in Belgium are investigating a complaint from a teenager who says a tattooist peppered her face with stars after she asked for only three.

Kimberley Vlaeminck, 18, said she fell asleep during the procedure.

"I woke up when he was starting to tattoo my nose... I counted 56 stars, it is frightening," she said.

Tattoo artist Rouslan Toumaniantz, who is Romanian, said his client did not fall asleep and she got exactly what she had ordered.

He rejects Ms Vlaeminck's claim he had misunderstood what she had asked for.

Mr Toumaniantz says his client was happy until her family saw her face

"She was awake and looked in the mirror several times as the procedure was being done," said Mr Toumaniantz, who works at Tattoo Box in Kortrijk.

He says his client only regretted the tattoos later.

"She agreed, but when her father saw it, the trouble started," Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws quoted Mr Toumaniantz as saying.

The teenager has told Belgian media she wanted three modest stars tattooed near her eye and she awoke to "a nightmare".

Ms Vlaeminck has said she wants to keep the tattoos on her forehead but would have the rest removed.

There is no way this girl "fell asleep" whilst having her face tattooed. She probably thought it was a good idea until she saw what it looked like. My husband is a tattooist & won't tattoo hands, necks or faces. We used to have people come into the studio in samui & I would turn them away if they were drunk. You have to have a personal code & this tattooist should have refused to do so many but ultimately the final responsibility was on the girl.

What a muppet.!!

It's a sad, sad story. Tattoos are for life not just for a night on the piss. I feel sorry for the girl.

That is because you are a nice man, Suegha.

I, on the other hand, am not so sympathetic. I'm with Boo on this one, no way she didn't know what was happening and to then turn around and blame the tattooist for her own foolishness is not on.

Have to add, saw a guy once (on Koh Phangan, naturally :) ) who had dreads down to his knees and half his face fully tattooed (vertical half) in that dark green ink. Like he thought he was a Maori warrior or something. Looked very creepy tbh.

And the green ink will require a more expensive laser colour to remove- and more painful- than blue.

The real muppets are the ones who get the multicoloured jobs, especially with a lot of red and yellow- kind of hard to target red colour painlessly when it's the same colour as your blood!

Agree with other comments, this is one of those good ideas at the time gone wrong. I've never had a tattoo done but I would expect that falling asleep during the process would be impossible (without drugs) how she expected anyone to believe that is beyond me.

I was over here with some mates quite a few years ago, and one of them woke up one morning with his current girlfriends name tattooed on his upper arm.... that doesn't sound too bad ..... problem was, it was the wrong spelling, and it was under a skull & cross bones surrounded by barbed wire....... never make a wish when you're pissed either :)

That reminds me of an old 'mates' tat. He was not a very nice English chappie and had a british bulldog with union jack waistcoat tattoo'd on his arm. He said the tatto artist was MORE p!ssed than him and marked him with a dog with one foot canine looking and the other, looked like a human foot.

I am pleased to say he was the last to notice :D:D:D

Agree with what Boo says and I am sorry, I could not trust anyone looking like that guy who did the stars.

:)

My dad got some great tattoos in occupied Japan when he was in the Air Force during the Korean War. But, being a business man, he always hid them under his long sleeve shirts. He was quite embarrassed by them.

Well, when he was about 60 or so, and they had faded quite a bit, he thought "what the hel_l, I am retired now, I'll go get the re-inked". Tattoo artist wouldn't touch them, said they were antiques :)

he was not amused :D

Good lord, he looks like a nutter. I'm all for freedom of expression & all that but to do that to yourself requires some serious detachment from the mainstream.

My husband has no tattoos below his elbows & unless he is wearing shorts ( a common form of practicing for tattooist is to use your own legs) or a short sleeve t-shirt you wouldn't know he had any. I have asked him to get full sleeve now though, I just love them & if done well look very sexy (imo)

The point of a tattoo is to have it for life, if you get one with the idea that one colour over another will be easier to remove at a later date then you shouldn't be getting one in the first place. :)

He looks mentally ill. There has to be something wrong with someone who has all that junk (the metal) on his face, not to mention the tattoos.

I'd bet international travel would be a real problem for him. "Scuse me sir, you've bleeped!" :)

Here's a pic of Rouslan Toumaniantz.

Would you order a tattoo from this guy?

Careful! You'll give Naam a hard-on. :)

Regards.

serious question, how does he eat anything with all that metal on his lower lip?

And that's just his face - the thought of where else he is pierced and tatooed is something I don't even want to think about... Shise, I just have :)

But, seriously would you let your daughter go and have a tatoo done by that weirdo? Would you let your daughter have a tatoo full stop? Belgians are strange - they eat chips with mayonnaise.

I 'd bet he don't!

Love to see him when he's old and wrinkly, he'll look like a shrunken head :):D

I think the wire rim glasses are a nice touch, myself. Gives him an intellectual air :)

haha

He'd be in trouble if he got a sniffle, too, with all that nose gear...

I heard this guy on Radio 5 live, he stated she insisted on multiple tattoos and could not have fell asleep it is too painful, I have no idea of this, but verified in the above posts.

In his defence he talked of freedom of thought, she wanted it, so I provided a service and then said in today's age of very good foundation and make-up, she can cover them up if she wants to.

Her father returned from a few beers ( allegedly ) and blew his top, did he not know where he was dropping his daughter off??

Morally, I would suggest that he should have asked her to come back in a week and if she still wanted them, bring a parent to supervise.

He has agreed to provide funds for laser removal.

Yes it's fairly obvious what's happened. Despite Frankenweirdo's appearance, I think he's been done like a dinner and it was good of him to offer to pay for removal.

Perhaps a law requiring a 7 day cooling off period for any tattoo work may serve some purpose, but (of course) there are those who would argue that it would be another encroachment upon our ever diminishing liberties.

Well...I can imagine that she may have went in there with the idea of just a couple of stars..but then maybe they had a discussion about having more done. Being young, naive and too easily influenced without real consideration, thought the tattooist was just way out there and cool and decided to go along with something more extreme.

I dont believe she fell asleep, i think that one is very strange. But, i think that the tattooist should have definitely been more responsible and told her to have a think about it, or have some kind of temporary tattoo first (or at very least, just stick with one or two stars).

I have 4 tattoos, all of which i still love, because they were carefully considered and each one marked an important event for me. There is no way in hel_l (and im sorry if this sounds un PC), that i would let that guy near me to do a tattoo. Aestheticism is in the eye of the beholder, but i think that goes beyond Aesthetics. I dont particularly trust anything too extreme.

some months back I saw a documentary of some sort

showing a number of people with serious modifications to their face.

tattoos, add ons, growths through hormone injections (little horns and whatever else)..that made them look like characters from st ar trek, star wars, wolverine, and similar such movies

but they are real people that went about normal life

i cant describe it, but many of them looked quite disturbing

Yes it's like that fad of a few years ago where people were getting their tongues split. Unbelievable.

^ that was one of many things one person did as part of their facial /body modification

ermmmm

as said, I really cannot describe it in full. you have to watch it to get a glimpse of an idea.....

He's almost as weird as the Lizard Man:

I wonder if either of them get any dates?

Imagine their poor children...

^ whaddayamean Ping. ..As kids often rebel against their parents by doing the exact opposite of what their parents do. They would probably become the most pristine 'normal' looking kids with ambitions of being an accountant or something. :)
