German Man Found Dead In Pattaya Hotel Room Following Drinking Session With Bar Girls

On the 5th July 2009, a German man died in his Pattaya hotel following a drinking session with 5 bar girls whom he had invited back to his room.

Police investigator Colonel Suriya Wariwong was notified that a foreign man had been found dead at the Siam Bay shore hotel room, located on Thappraya Road, Moo. 10, Nongprue, Banglamung. Following standard procedure the police rushed to the scene to investigate, accompanied by the rescue team.

The body of the man, later identified as 40 year old German national Mr. Stegen Babc, was found in room no. 207 on the 2nd floor. He was lying in the bed, wearing jeans but no shirt.

Initially, hotel staff and the police were hesitant in giving any information to the media and, quite rare in a case of this nature, reporters were not allowed to take any pictures in the room. The police only said that the man had died of heart failure.

The police questioned a key witness, Miss Jenjira Gunhayothin [19], a service girl who had worked in the South Pattaya area. She told the investigators that she met Mr. Stegen at an entertainment venue in South Pattaya with 4 of her friends. After a while he invited them back to his room for a drink. She said that after they had been drinking for a while, they noticed that the man had fallen asleep and so they went to sleep as well. When they woke up they discovered that he was dead.

Police made a search of the area to gather more information and the body of the deceased was sent for autopsy. Police investigations continue.

The problem is, if a farang takes bargirl/s back to his room and he has been drinking heavily all day/evening then it only takes 3 or 4 Xanax tablets to make sure that he never wakes up again.

This kind of drugging is common in the Philippines and Thailand.

In this case we just don't know the reason of death. Do they do blood toxicology in Thailand?

But it is not normal for a 40 year old to die in such a manner.

One of the girls gave a statement to police according to the report so it's pretty obvious that it wasn't a drugging that went wrong. Wouldn't they have all bolted?
