Where's everyone gone?.

It's been feeling more like a provincial town lately. Popped in to my normally busy post office and noted just a handful of people in there. The streets around Fortune Town look far less busy.

Is the big Economic crash hitting home, or are people ducking for cover from pig flu.?

My guess is quite a few thousand went home for the hols and what wiith the mounting financial crisis and latest epidemic they just couldn't be bothered to come back.

Is it quiet in your neighbourhood?

No one has an answer, they must have gone already.

Very quiet around the Laksi area as well, takings are way down in our business for the last 4 days.

I go to a couple of small shopping centers (Big C and attached businesses) in my area and I was surprised to find them really quite deserted the last couple of times I was there. I just figured it was a one-off kind of thing or that maybe I got lucky (they are usually very crowded and not pleasant), but then it happened again. Another place not too far away was about the same.

Could it be due to the middle of the month? Maybe people don't have much money left--especially after the holiday.

Looks like its your job to turn the lights off!

Noticed the same yesterday, drove into BKK normally take around 45 mins leaving around 10am, yesterday took 28 mins..

Returning later popped into Carrefour in Bang Yai, mid afternoon and plenty of parking places downstairs and the supermarket almost empty..

Government Schools are closed - and many people are avoiding public places and large crowds - as a safety measure to avoid conracting Swine Flu.

Maybe I go out at the wrong time but sukhumvit is the usual human traffic jam, MBK was packed on Wednesday and my usual evening haunts just as busy as normal (a couple even busier).

Normally I avoid Friday traffic like the plague (perhaps an unfortunate metaphor), but had to travel to Pratunam which is normally very busy. There was still traffic but nowhere near as busy as I'd expect. Not complaining mind you! Less polution too. You never know if this keeps up I might even start to feel healthy!

Phuket is quiet and my recent visits to Bangkok, Pattaya and Chiang Mai proved to be the same, this board also seems quiet so maybe it's just the time of the year?
