Pattaya, July 24[PDN] An owner-developer totally freaked out on 23 July, 2009, after being threatened and then actually bombed. A bomb was thrown into his condo building, but luckily, did not explode. The suspect was his former contractor.

At 5.00 pm, on 23 July, Pol.Col. Sarayut Sa Ngoun Pokai, Pattaya Superintendent, was notified that a bomb had been found at the Siam Ocean View Condominium Project, located in Soi Pratumnuk 6, Moo. 12 , Nongprue, Banglamung. The police team rushed to investigate.

At the unfinished 7-storey building, the police team searched room No. A202, on the Second Floor. They found a bomb [M26] on a glass table. The detonator had been removed, and consequently the bomb did not explode. However, police contacted the Bomb Disposal Department from the Sattahip Naval Base, to help them defuse the bomb.

Mr. Sutjapong Kornchai [34], the building caretaker, said at 11.00 pm, it was raining, and then he and the workers heard a loud noise as an item was thrown into the front of the building. He rushed out to see two men in a Isuzu D-mag truck driving away.

Mr. Sutjapong searched the area around the building near where the noise had been occurred. He found the detonator of a bomb lying on the ground and the glass window cracked. He kept the detonator, but did not report the matter to the police, as he presumed that the incident had been the work of the former contractor who was cancelled because his work had not come up to the specifications of the contract.

However, when Mr. Mr. Sutjapong continued checking inside room no. A202, he found another bomb lying on the ground. He then rushed to call the police.

Miss Supaporn In-U-dom,[33], the project secretary, said the project owner was a foreigner and he had never had an enemy or any conflict with anybody. There was only a problem with a contractor, who had signed a contract for work on the interior, but they did not follow the conditions of the contract. The unsatisfactory nature of their work had caused delays to the project. The contractor company had been trying to negotiate, but the project administrator did not want to compromise.

She added that during the past two months, this contractor company had sent their men to threaten the management about 3 times and finally threw two bombs into the building.

Pol.Col. Sarayut said, initially, his team were still questioning witnesses, including the project owner, but they had not receive enough information yet . However, the police will attempt to find the suspects and prosecute them as soon as possible.
