Export My Bike From Uk

Featured Replies

hi there just wondering if anyone can give me information on shipping my bike from uk can anyone tell me any good shipping company,s ,rough price, how long does it take, what paperwork is required, and how do they work out import duty. also i was informed that if i bring bike as spare parts then build it up in thailand much less duty is this true? any info would be most helpfull thanks the rebel

Another one....

Search the forum, there is plenty of information.

And no, don't do it. Buy one locally if you want to ride.

Import tax etc. can vary between 110% to 240% depending on engine size.

You can bring it in as spare parts but can never get a registration book (green book) until you pay the import taxes.

I would say that no matter what bike or what value it is dont bother, it will drive you mad,. :)

A Thai co-worker just told me his brother is going to bring his Yamaha 1700cc - must be a Road Star Warrior - nice bikes - in from Hawaii as parts. I just said "oh". This should be fun to watch. For me, not for the brothers.

Oh yea. Thanks Dave i forgot that bit. :)

No problem, unlike importing a bike into Thailand :):D:D:D

Hi mate,

I have asked a couple of questions here, and after doing some searches, and unable to find an answer, I have taken the plunge and submitted a post. I have had similar responses. This website is fantastic for answering all the things you need to know, and most people here have been great. There are some cranky ones that give you a hard time regardless. I do wonder why they bother making such remarks, as they are unneccesary.

I am looking at moving to Thailand, should my job come through. I have a beautiful Yamaha XVS 1100 cruiser that I would love to bring in. Unfortunately, every way i look, I hit a dead end.

If you import the whole bike, you have to pay so much duty, it is not worth it. I have found out if I import the thing in separate pieces, it can come in as parts. The only issue there is getting the bike registered, and this thing called a green book. This proves you own the bike, and payed taxes on it ( I can feel I have made a mistake here, and going to get hailed down for it). It is very hard apparently to get this "green book".

These people are right, don't risk it.

Abusive posts have not been removed or punished. thaicbr is usually a most helpful poster here.

Don't bring it. And welcome to ThaiVisa.

Posts have now been removed because the temperature was climbing rapidly.... :)

.....................................

Take it easy with the newer members who maybe don't have previous experience with forums please.

(I personally didn't know there was a forum specific "search" function until about 500 posts of experience, however, that's not saying much! :D )

....................................

Maybe someone wants to start/collate a topic regarding inporting bikes from other countries and I'll make it a sticky????

Or should I just put a notice up top - "Importing - Don't even think about it! :D "

Soundman.... may i respectfully ask that the search button be made LARGER. And maybe the words changed to 'search this forum'. Hugs Allan

:) I'll log that for the software people...

Soundman, if I could be so bold; MOVE IT AWAY FROM THE ADS!!!!

I don't know about most people, but if there's a grouping of ads I just automatically jump right over it. I realise that ThaiVisa has to pay for hosting and all, but com'on....there's an insane amount of 'crap' up top that just glazes my eyes over. I believe it would be much better if it was level with the "Add Reply" and "New Topic" at the top of the threads but on the left above the thread's title.

If I offended any forum rules, many apologies, but that's something I've been trying to get off my chest for a while.

None at all - useful feedback/critique is always appreciated. :)

There are pros ???

Jaydillion.

Village Idiot here asking for the info. If you or your contact can guarantee that i can get a bike into Thailand quickly, legally and efficiently with the pre-agreed duties only payable and a new green book within 2 month. Then I'm all ears.

It has been written on this forum many times about people who have tried doing this and the customs just bump up the duties or make up new ones until you either abandon your vehicle or pay through the nose .

So waiting eagerly. Allan
