I live here and have a Honda motorcycle; it's in my name and I have the green book.

My brother likes to go to Laos and Cambodia with this thing, and touring in TH also. I heard that he can not enter L and C with a motorcycle that's in not in his name.

Do you need extra liability insurance in those countries, and do you buy that when crossing ?

Could they ask a non-Thai license plate in C ? I know about the "T" stickers you need.

Anybody ? Thanks.

Hi Prajak,

Go to Golden Triangle Rider forum, they have great details for both countries.

You can take a bike to laos & Cambodia but you need a document showing consent from the owner duly witnessed and translated; i.e. a legal document.

You buy insurance at the border crossings. It's a good idea to make sure you do that. There have been a couple of cases where guys ended up in jail after an accident and large sums of money talked about to get them out.

Check out the site above.
