Dear Forum

I have just returned from a trip to the Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Laos to apply for a NON IMMIGRANT O VISA (BASED ON MARRIAGE), MUTIPLE ENTRY, of which I clearly specified on the application, couldn't make it any CLEARER.

When I paid for the visa on Tuesday the cashier gave me a invoice for 2,000 THB, I told her this was wrong I have applied for MULTIPLE ENTRY which is 5,000 THB.

I collected the visa this afternoon and they have issued me with a NON IMMIGRANT O VISA with SINGLE ENTRY. There must have been about 100 people behind me so it was DIFFICULT for me to take the matter further, so I left .....

What I would like to know is do I now have to do 90 day reports, what financial criteria is required. If I left Thailand before my 90 days is up, would they give me another 90 days when I return.

NORMALLY, I have MULTIPLE ENTRY as I have to leave often due to work commitments.

Just a little confused !!! Oh, I'm 45 years of age so don't meet retirement criteria. But married to a Thai national with children.

Thanx in advance

Vientiane will not issue multiple entry visas. The only place to get them is KL or Penang.

A single entry gives you exactly that. One entry and it is invalid.

The only way you have to make 90 day reports is if you get an extension of stay at immigration. To get this you need to show 40K baht income or 400K baht in a Thai bank for 2 months. You could then get a multiple re-entry permit that would allow you to leave and re-enter as many times as you want for the length of the extension.

Different consulates, different rules I’m afraid. KL and Penang are the best places to go for multi entry Non-O visa based on marriage in the region.

But within last 30 days of your permission to stay you could apply at immigration to extend your stay based on marriage if you meet the financial requirements, 400k in the bank for 2 months or 40k per month income. You would need to obtain re-entry permit (1000 baht single entry, 3800 baht multi entry) to keep your permission to stay alive due to your frequent work travel abroad. Then you would have to do 90 day reporting if your period of stay in Thailand exceeded 90 days at any one time.
