Oxford Moot

Scouse and probably a brief starring role Mrs Scouse & Heir

Moss and probably a very non-starring role Mrs Finn and Chaos himself

Before Mrs Scouse & Finn, Heir & Chaos go shopping

I have taken the liberty to contact Toasted who between him and myself keep the Oxford forum updated, but he cannot access here yet, Toasted may be able to make it too.

Endure has shown an interest, hopefully I can twist his arm, I reckon he has a yarn to spin or two.

For those interested, it is not a dawn till dusk drinking sprint,

hopefully I can show you some of the wonders of the Dreaming Spires and intersperse it with some interesting watering holes where the likes of Tolkein, Lewis, Pullman have all followed the path.

The date will be 19th Sept time to be confirmed

Any general idea of what time it's kicking off? I'll possibly catch the train as the only transport I have is a large white van from work (I'm the White Van Man :) ). I'd rather not pay more than 50 quid for a room and brekkers if possible.

Haven't thought of a time as yet, I'll get something together in the near future.

As for Accom, I'll get on it soon as well, it will be good to meet up.

Moss

(where's me vodka, that plane t'Jeddah's leavin' soon... :) )

Better not be a dusk til dawn affair, there is no way I could ever survive that.

(sbk starting to get worried that she will die of liver failure in the UK trying to keep up with all her British friends :) )

Dear Moss

Will be in Oxford in a couple of weeks time wife wife and daughter. Just an overnighter to get girl settled in Uni Halls.

Any suggestion you may have on a decent hotel would be much appreciated..

Give me a few hours, I'll have a range for you to choose from, as a matter of interest, what College is she going to?

Sadly she is not that bright ( she is but she has never done a stroke in her life ) so she's off to Brookes.

Marketing Management and Psychology whatever that means.

Is Brookes no good then? One of my Thai friend's daughters got a BA in architecture at Brookes and has just finished an MA at Nottingham.

Brookes is pretty good actually, as far as I know it is considered one of the best "ex-polys" in the UK for many subjects.

Malmaison

Very nice place, central Oxford, redeveloped approx 6 years ago.

Just in case you want one in Headington itself Red Mullions is one that had a good reputation when I lived in Headington.

The Mount Pleasant Hotel also had a good reputation, hard working family who worked their tails off to get the business up and running.

If you want to push the boat out Beaumont Hotel

If these are not much good let me know

Brookes is a pretty good university, especially having to put up with living in the shadow of that other place.

It has been around, in various guises, for a long time, growing steadily, until the last 10 years where its growth has been exponential, they own an awful lot of Headington, and have campuses spread across the city.

Eastgate Hotel Bang on the High St

Four Pillars Abingdon Road straight walk into Town approx 10 minutes

These are both well know and location is good.

Last two times Scouse came to Town, I was unable to go out for the official meet the next day :D

And this time I am under orders :D

Fantastic

You are very kind :)

Seems to be. They wanted 32 IB points for her course, with 28 points being given as the equivalent of three grade A, "A" levels.

Note to all Bedlamites. Stick to "A" levels, IB soooooooo hard.

It's funny you should bring that up, I was formulating a back up plan for getting a few under me belt before kick off. :)

No rooms at the Four Pillars and the Eastgate is £182 for one night :D

How about the Travelodge Oxford Peartree? Any good for location?

These are not too far away endure, Malmaison being the best but also the priciest.

Got that wrong then didn't I, I am sure it didn't say that when I looked, delusions of Grandeur, I'd say, it's good but not that good.

Give me a few hours, I'm struggling for time at the mo, but I'll find something better.

The River Hotel

This is the one we book our engineers into when required, perhaps they might give me a discount, but we don't use them often.

A 5 minute walk into town, bang on the canal, good location, easy to walk into town and 5 minutes walk from the station.

Sorted! I arrive in Oxford at 1600 and am staying at some ropey old dive 2 minutes from the train station.

Have you booked the River :D

You know I am renowned for my practical jokes :)

16.00, if Scouse has his way, I won't even be able to talk by then, or was that your plan all along :D

In all seriousness, look forward to seeing you.

No, the Westgate. It looks ok but there again I've stayed in hotels in Wolverhampton so I'm inured to most things :D

You could always pay someone to clang the central heating pipes with a bloody great hammer every 30 seconds, just to make you think you're back on a ship again. :)

16.00, if Scouse has his way...

Let's at least give Endure some time to arrive and settle in.

16.01 OK?

My first ship was a steamer with an engine room like a cathedral - a wonder to behold. It was all downhill from there.
