Pattaya, October 1 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : Just after 8.30 on Wednesday Night, Police Lieutenant Colonel Reungwit from Pattaya Police Station was called to the Wanna Living Apartments in Soi Sukumvit 46/1 in South Pattaya. Police were contacted by Mr. David Popadeynetz aged 57 from Canada who had returned to his room to find it had been broken into and items had been stolen. He revealed that he had been away from the room since Midday and returned to find the room safe had disappeared. Luckily Security Cameras were able to record a possible suspect in the case and it is believed that a man of middle-eastern origin, who checked-in earlier in the day, is responsible for the theft. He is seen to enter Mr. Popadeynetz’s room and leave moments later with a large object in his bag which is thought to be the room safe. He did not give registration details at the time of check-in and gave the excuse that his friends had his papers and would arrive soon. Police believe the suspect is part of an organized and professional middle-eastern gang operating here in Pattaya and the search for him and others in the gang are ongoing at this time while Mr. Popadeynetz comes to terms with the loss of the safe which contained 6,000 Euro’s, 2 credit cards, 1 bank book, a flight ticket, passport, mobile phone, digital camera, some Thai currency and a laptop which was also stolen from the room.

Ouch!!! The place should be liable though.... don't allow a stay without proper registration.

Well, brit, it sounds like the guy didn't stayj--he left in a hurry.

I feel sorry for the poor guy and I know excactly how he feels.

The same thing happened to me last year.

perhaps its the old.... stay at hotel, copy key, then return some other time and steal from whoever is staying there?

Nice job securing the room safe. :)
