THAI PRESS: TOT Mulls Leasing iPSTAR Service

BANGKOK: -- The board of TOT Corp. PCL (TOT.YY), a Thai state-run telecommunications company, will consider a plan to lease 1.5 gigabytes of bandwidth from the iPSTAR satellite at a meeting next Thursday, the Nation reports.

The move is aimed to broaden the scope of TOT's telecom products from telephone service products to high-speed internet, the paper says citing TOT President Teerawit Charuwat.

iPSTAR satellite is developed by Shin Satellite PCL (SATTEL.TH), founded by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra family. The satellite is set to be launched in June.

Samart Telecoms PCL (SAMTEL.TH) is a national service provider for iPSTAR.
