Aussies Arrested For Gambling And Disturbing The Peace

Featured Replies

At around 5.30 in the afternoon recently, Pattaya Police Station received a number of

Aussies arrested for gambling and disturbing the peace

complaints that a group of foreigners were disturbing the peace, with an unacceptable amount of noise at a house in Soi 23 Naklua. The noise had been ongoing all day, and although the local residents had at first shown patients, they had now had enough and wanted the police to sort it out.

Arriving at the scene the police discovered seven Australian’s, all the worse for wear, still drinking beer and gambling on a card game. The police put an immediate stop to the afternoon’s entertainment, and after ascertaining that they had been involved in illegal gambling, all unauthorised gambling is forbidden in Thailand, they took them to

the local police station for charging. The officers also confiscated a pack of cards, 100 baht in cash, gambling equipment and a large amount of chips that were being used instead of having cash on the table if the police raided.

All confessed to the charges of disturbing the peace and illegal gambling. The house owner, Mr. Leo Luef, faced further charges with regards to hosting the event. I wouldn’t like to bet on the outcome!!

Obviously the BIB have stumbled onto a major gambling ring here...... a massive 100 baht and all of that :)

Crackdown on farang illegal gambling in Pattaya

Had they been holding Lotto tickets and singing loud and off-key into a high-wattage karaoke setup, well, that would have been just fine.........

where are all the Quality Tourists? we need some more restrictions on the Visa processes here! :)

I see groups of Thais on the beach everyday gambling with money out in the open in public!! Where are the police??

COME ON PEOPLE, these are the big crimes here :)

Afterall, its not like theres any serious crime in Thailand, no murders, no assaults, no robberies, break ins, prostitution and so forth :D:D

......meanwhile thailand sleeps peacefully tonight knowing these baaastards and their 100 baht are off the streets.

An ozzies's dress sense alone is enougth to disturb the peace.

Doesn't anyone see the irony here!

Title should be 'Thais arrested for being Thai', what could be more Thai than making noise (even if you're an Aussie doing it).

although the local residents had at first shown patients

Apart from the woefully poor spelling, this article surely is a put-on? April Fool's day came early?

Forget, it, I am glad that the BIB have got their priorities all sorted out :)

I can see the headlines now

"Thailand...the hub for law enforcement and crackdowns on illegal betting syndicates"

:)

Just wondering what the actual punishment will be, if convicted. Moreover, if there was NO cash on the table, how could it be proven that the chips were worth real money...or doesn't it matter?

But there was cash, a whopping THB 100.00!

Herr herr, The BIB;s have problem with the rent?

Waiting for their cut...

As reported by the arresting officer... :)

"The noise had been ongoing all day, and although the local residents had at first shown patients, they had now had enough and wanted the police to sort it out."

Did they parade the patients around the soi for a while, or did this gifted journalist mean "patience"?

I sure hope the patients weren't too sick when the locals showed them, and I wonder if seeing these poor sick people been marched around the soi, made the Aussie gamblers feel compelled to stop.

I love these funny little pseudo-journalistic attempts in Pattaya. This guy should get together with Howard Miller at Pattaya One News and they could really butcher the English language.

This has to a joke arrested for disturbing the peace in Thailand :) give thais any excuse to party and they will have a party ,the aussie who owns the house must really be hated by has neighbours or has very bad taste in music :D
