At around 5.30 in the afternoon recently, Pattaya Police Station received a number of

complaints that a group of foreigners were disturbing the peace, with an unacceptable amount of noise at a house in Soi 23 Naklua. The noise had been ongoing all day, and although the local residents had at first shown patients, they had now had enough and wanted the police to sort it out.

Arriving at the scene the police discovered seven Australian’s, all the worse for wear, still drinking beer and gambling on a card game. The police put an immediate stop to the afternoon’s entertainment, and after ascertaining that they had been involved in illegal gambling, all unauthorised gambling is forbidden in Thailand, they took them to

the local police station for charging. The officers also confiscated a pack of cards, 100 baht in cash, gambling equipment and a large amount of chips that were being used instead of having cash on the table if the police raided.

All confessed to the charges of disturbing the peace and illegal gambling. The house owner, Mr. Leo Luef, faced further charges with regards to hosting the event. I wouldn’t like to bet on the outcome!!

Afterall, its not like theres any serious crime in Thailand, no murders, no assaults, no robberies, break ins, prostitution and so forth :D:D

......meanwhile thailand sleeps peacefully tonight knowing these baaastards and their 100 baht are off the streets.

although the local residents had at first shown patients

Apart from the woefully poor spelling, this article surely is a put-on? April Fool's day came early?

Forget, it, I am glad that the BIB have got their priorities all sorted out :)

Just wondering what the actual punishment will be, if convicted. Moreover, if there was NO cash on the table, how could it be proven that the chips were worth real money...or doesn't it matter?

But there was cash, a whopping THB 100.00!

"The noise had been ongoing all day, and although the local residents had at first shown patients, they had now had enough and wanted the police to sort it out."

Did they parade the patients around the soi for a while, or did this gifted journalist mean "patience"?

I sure hope the patients weren't too sick when the locals showed them, and I wonder if seeing these poor sick people been marched around the soi, made the Aussie gamblers feel compelled to stop.

I love these funny little pseudo-journalistic attempts in Pattaya. This guy should get together with Howard Miller at Pattaya One News and they could really butcher the English language.
