Macau Hotel

Hi, I'm planning a trip to Macua in a month or so and would appreciate any advice on hotels.

Current favorite is the Riviera hotel which seems a good deal at about US$60 with breakfast and a fitness centre.

I will be spending time at the casinos, sight-seeing and day trips to Hong Kong.

I suppose my questions are:

1. Is it reasonably easy to get to/from the Grand Lisboa to the Riviera. It looks OK maybe 1.5miles.

2. Is the hotel OK (ie. not in the middle of renovation or in a bad area)

Any advice appreciated, 1st time to Macau. If there's better places at a reasonable budget I'd like to know. I suppose my ideal place would be something like the Rio, but I can't bring myself to spend double the money......

Can't help you with the hotel, we stayed at The Royal last week, fabulous, Premier Suites offer free food all afternoon and as much beer and wine as you can drink as well as a fantastic breakfast....cost was 5,000 HKD for 5 nights.

You have to go to The Venetian ,the biggest casino in the world. Apparantly you can get 5 Jumbo jets into the gambling area, and it has 3,000 bedrooms!!!!

We lost all our money at the Lisboa, but we only gambled 2,500 B, my Wife preffered to spend the money we had put aside fotr gambling on clothes.

Macau's great....have a good time

Hi - thanks for the replies. I went with the Sintra in the end. It is right next to the Grand Lisboa where I will be spending most of my time and probably ALL my money......It has a lot of good 10/10 reviews and seems reasonable at $88 USD inc tax

I'm there for 9 days so will definitely be visiting the Venetian - 100 restaurants right? Incredible. I loved the Venetian in Vegas too. But it's more than double the cost to stay and wrong side of the bridge.

Excited already.......... :)
