Was driving back to Bangkok recently having come to the conclusion (yet again) that the majority of people conveying themselves on the nations roads are or want to be brain dead.

While pondering this I drifted off to other areas of mental ability and came to another conclusion: of all the Thai women I have met over the years (either through discussion or otherwise) only 1 showed any interest in the mental side of bedroom gymnastics. It was a startiling realisation.

Sure, Thai women are generally energetic and genuinely desirous to please their partner and often go to great effort to please physically. It just strikes me as odd that the number who have show any awareness that there is a mental side to bedroom activities is, at least in my experience, unusually low.

Hence my post. Do others have the same experience and if so, what could be some of the reasons ? And I don't mean to leave our female members out of this discussion. Are Thai males similar ?

Can't say I've noticed any difference across the ethnic board.

Certainly never noticed what I would call passivity in Thai women, I knew one or two in the PI who had been sexually crippled by a strict Catholic upbringing but I dare say that's a religious thing rather than racial.

But then, maybe I just don't know, I was married forever then I came to Asia. Perhaps I should have stayed in Farangistan.

I firmly believe it is something we are taught by various partners. Most good sex is mental as well as physical. I know the women I'm with who actually ENJOY sex are much more willing to experiment. When both partners enjoy the whole build up of the actual sex act then it feeds on itself and grows. Otherwise the sex act grows stale. Intimacy is a wonderful thing between partners who enjoy the WHOLE process and not just the final act.

Aside from in the bedroom.....are Thais imaginative at all, any any arena of life? Generally speaking.

I think imagination may be influenced by culture...... influenced by ambient mentality.

Perhaps there are links to Buddhist attitudes towards tolerance of certain aspects of life.

Neccesity is the mother of invention...... Translate that to "desire is the mother of necessity,".

If you have a culture that is taught to supress some emotions.... some things are not neccesary for that culture.

Certainly Western attitudes towards sex follow social fashions.... ie, culture.

My wife is a Silpakorn grad. She and most of her former classmates are pretty darn creative. Her girlfriend married her instructor who built Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai and his ouvre encompasses some very imaginative art.

My wife's brother is an electrical engineer. He works for a semiconductor company in Singapore. He's the most inventive guy I've ever met. If he'd been born in America he'd be running Apple computers and have dozens of patents.

Lots of talent here but it's not always readily apparent I will admit.

As for imagination on the bedroom? I'd say "not much", but still enthuiastic for the most part. Now, if you asked how imaginative Thai women can be about what their husbands might be up to while they're apart, well....... Let's just put it this way, I wish I was half the man she imagines (used to) I could be.

The one's I have experienced have a pretty vivid imagination.
