Has anyone been to the hot springs at Pa Pae, Chiang Mai? If so, is there a decent hotel near by? We plan to visit friends in Phan and that is not that far out of the way.

This place in on the highway between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai near Pa Pae if I remember right.

It was not finished when I took these photos but now it is a resort, hotel, hot spring spa place

Maybe someone can recognize the photos and help you out

I've only known them as Nam Ron Hot Springs. There's a few resorts in the area.

Pa Pae is in the other direction, heading towards Pai.

There's a Pa Phai out near Doi Saket.

I was there yesterday. 500 baht for small bungalow in the back of the first resort arriving from from Chiang Mai. There were only two bungalows but both were empty. We stop there today on our way back from Chiang Rai. Great place and the construction is complete.

The site is Mae Kachan Hotsprings, near the Village of Ban Nam Ron. A VERY large sign extols the site as a major tourist attraction in Chiang Rai Province, but the sign is about 6 km away (Southwest toward Chiang Mai).

The "unfinished" look is a fixture - it has been that way for years. The hotsprings operate year-round with the usual tubs and basins available. The swimming pool is open occasionally.

Would that be off highway 107 near Fang? Pong Nam Ron is the nearest spelling to Ban Nam Ron.

No Gaz, this is on route 118 about 50kms out of Chiang Mai heading North. You can't miss them, there's tourist markets and eating places there.

Thanks. That sounds easy enough to find. Highway numbers make everything easier to find.
