Beethoven wrote the violin concerto in 1806 for his colleague Franz Clement, a leading violinist of the day: it was later revived and performed by violinist Joseph Joachim and conducted by Felix Mendelssohn. The joyfulness of Brahms’s Second Symphony, composed during a visit to the Austrian Alps, has been compared to the pastoral mood of Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony.

Any idea on ticket cost? Couldn't find info on website. Also, is the Music Hall where it will be performed on the Salaya campus? Couldn't find it on their map.

I always pay 500 baht for a ticket (which, when compared to the Bangkok Symphony prices, and the huge difference in quality, is a steal). I believe that is the price. Auditorium is located on the Mahidol University Salaya Campus. I usually drive there, but the shuttle goes right to the building.

Map was here. http://www.music.mahidol.ac.th/macm/locate.html

If you were taking a cab - I think this would get you there, as well, for a cab driver.

Absolutely stunning performance of the Brahms 2 on Friday night. Those who were there enjoyed it thoroughly as did the musicians. There were more than a few tears shed, as new heights of artistry are being reached for music performance in Bangkok.

Closing my eyes, I was, for some moments, in Vienna, not Bangkok. Opening them, it was truly wonderful to see an orchestra of many Thais and expats creating such serendipitous sounds. Can't wait for the next one!

dam_n. I had been told it would be difficult to get a bus back so I haven't been there since a friend stopped going in his car. I really like the orchestra and the auditorium. Which bus is best? Is the shuttle you mentioned the #164?
