I Hate Christmas

Featured Replies

I think most of you know that I hate Christmas and one thing that drives me crazy is the christmas music that plays everywhere you go, in the UK you just can't get away from it. However, there are a few songs that I do like. Here are two that I like for totally different reasons. Please feel free to add or mention your own favourites.

I went down to Chiang Mai today and did a little shopping in Central and Robinsons.

Yes, they had music and more music, I hummed Silver Bells for at least the first 100km on the way home.

But, heck, it's only a few weeks of the year isn't it?

An album to watch out for for us oldies is "A Christmas Gift For You". The now despised Phil Spector lined his whole brilliant stable of performers up and got them warbling carols.

And if you want a Christmas song by a real rocker, far more disgraced and despised these days than even Phil.... I'm not ashamed to say I still like it.

The man is pure evil, his song is the devils noise. :)

Actually, Im an acca dacca fan......beethoven & adcd, both in my favs collection :)

Well there is always Joan Jett :)

Or better yet Jeff Beck Greensleeves....

Im with neverdie on this one. Christmas songs make me want to set fire to my ears. One of my many part time jobs during my degree was working in a clothing shop..from the start of December (minimum) all the way through January most of the typical Christmas "jingles" were on a loop. Psychologically it may be akin to Japanese water torture?

Have a sweet old friend here, that for the last couple of years has had to try get me to join in in Christmas Carol singing at a local temple. This year im going to be in Bangkok, so thankfully i have yet another excuse. I think he just wouldnt comprehend my wishing to poke my ears with knitting needles rather than face being in a group of people badly singing carols about stuff i dont really believe in.. or find really twee and vomit-worthy.

^For christmas wouldnt it be nice if all the freaks that enjoyed it would just give those who dont enjoy it ........ A BREAK from all this CRAP. Just one year, thats all I ask, then I could crawl back into my hole for another century or so..... :)

Hi 5. :D

And bah humbug to everyone else. :D

None of you can have small kids then cause when we got o tesco or wherever is playing these ditties me & Sonny sing along & even with the strange looks I get, I don't care, my boy is so excited about "very Christmas" as he has taken to calling it that I will put up with annoying Chrimbo songs.

Fleetwood Mac were playing in Perth earlier this week.

They're still touring after all this time.

With you 100%! :)

I'm stuck in Australia this year.

The primary school choirs singing this crap on tv every commercial break are driving me mad. :D

I don't go near the shops this time of year.

^Then old croc we will get those that wanna go on about their children this and their children that and as usual we can have more of that rammed down our throats.

No wonder people turn into sadistic killers.

I use to love working Christmas Day, I would cruise around the street looking for a victim to book :D

These days I have to find new ways to seek revenge on the Chistmas gooney society :):D

To think, all this could of been avoided if santa only brought me that bicycle :D

Ahhh Kids n Christmas..well thats different. If i had a kiddy, or was around kiddies at Christmas time, id be the same Boo.

Last year was a lotta fun with my bf's kids because they got a modified taste of a Western Christmas and I did stuff like filled their socks up with treats. They were pretty bemused by it all (or they just thought "crazy farang!" haha). They are with their mum this year though, so now Im back to the bah humbug.

Oh and yesterday was cute seeing parents taking pics of their kids around the Christmas decorations they have at Airport Plaza Mall. Kids love this stuff. I distinctly remember at the time hearing Elvis Christmas songs being played and getting a flashback to this thread (lol..sad aint it!), and thinking "hmm, maybe i was wrong, maybe some Christmasy songs are ok". But, even though Elvis Christmas songs are pretty cool when it comes to Christmas songs, i know it was the atmosphere with the kids that changed my mood, not really the songs.

Ughh...anyway...

Bah Humbug! :)

I'm with Boo and eek on this one, small kids and christmas is terrific. Its wonderful to see the joy on their faces and the excitement for all things christmasy.

However, not having any small children, and not being able to be around baby Boo for christmas, it will just be another day like it has been for years and years.

We where at the mall Bang Na last week sometime and they had a santa there walking about doing his stuff. My five year old was terrified of him :)

Thats probably because you are an old Scrooge yourself moonrakers :D

:)

Or as Dr Spooner once said upon finding an insect in his wifes butt crack, "HA! Bumbug.

I would usually work shift at the airport during xmas. No one else would do it.

Loved to refuse entry to one of those goonies just to ruin their day! :D

:D

I have a good friend who is a senior police officer. Even after 35 years in the force she is still approached by the powers that be every Christmas and hears.. "M******, seeing as you're the only one in the office without any children............".

She says the money's great anyway.
