Just seems so sad when someone so young dies. Apparently "natural causes", but possibly brought on by her eating disorder.

Anyway, times like that i realise that life is just so short.

Very sad really.

The 32-year-old actress, who got her start in the hit Clueless and rose to stardom in 8 Mile, was pronounced dead at 10.04am at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre, hospital spokeswoman Sally Stewart said.

Brittany was transported to the hospital after the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at 8am at the home she shared with her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, in the Hollywood Hills.

Assistant chief coroner Ed Winter said the star apparently collapsed in the bathroom, and authorities were looking into her medical history.

An official cause of death may not be determined for some time, since toxicology tests will be required, but "it appears to be natural", Mr Winter said.

He said an autopsy was planned for Monday or Tuesday.

Mr Winter said Brittany's family was co-operating with the coroner's investigation but would not be releasing a public statement. He said funeral arrangements have not been announced.

Los Angeles police have opened an investigation into the death.

Detectives and coroner's officials were at the couple's home on Sunday afternoon but did not talk to reporters. Paparazzi were camped outside the property, located above the Sunset Strip.

Neighbour Clare Staples said she saw firefighters working to resuscitate the actress. She said Brittany was on a stretcher and "looked as though she was dead at the scene".

Its so sad to feel so much pressure to be thin to the point of damaging your health. Often its about control, but the celeb world can be very cruel about body shapes.

Sad thing too is that she looks thin enough in that second pic sbk.

I think that set of legs from the older photo is sooooo much nicer than the spindly twigs shown in the later shot. I don't understand eating disorders.

I cant tell the difference

I dont eat the most healthy diet, and gain weight easily, and every now and then I realise I eat more than I should

in some way I can imagine the pressure. in Thailand you tend to have that too - with most women being so thin

I have a friend, who is skinny. one day she started going on the herbalife diet - says her husband mentioned she had put on weight. I was so mad. mad at him. mad at her for believing it. mad at society. shes about half my size with no fat whatsoever!

I too have seen and received the usual tasteless jokes on this subject. Normally celebs are fair game, however there is something about this beautiful, tragic lady that will also prevent me from repeating them.............

It seems Hollywood produces an endless supply of these talented people and considers them an expendable commodity.

We tend to mourn our dead rock stars a lot longer regardless of the foolish ways they may have elected to remove themselves from the gene pool, but sadly, Brittany, like Heath Ledger, will be forgotten in a few years unless we're watching HBO in an all night movie session.

No, money cannot buy you everything, however it would appear as if it can buy you plenty of prescription drugs.

You would think the Police and Coroner would be looking closely at deaths like these to see who are peddalling the prescription drugs.
