Hundreds of houses destroyed in hail storm

CHIANG RAI: -- Hundreds of houses have been destroyed in a summer hail storm in the northern province of Chiang Rai. No one was injured.

The hail storm hit a village in Muang district on Thursday night.

The local authorities have surveyed the damage and assessed the needs of the affected villagers.

Meanwhile, a large tree fell on a road in Toeng district causing a road accident. Four cars were involved and several passengers sustained minor injuries. The accident created a traffic jam as rescue workers had to spent several hours clearing the road.
