Had a look around yesterday before lunch. Pretty much standard Central Plaza, set on 5 levels. Best thing is a well stocked Tops , good bakery selection, cheeses and other goodies from farangland.. all for a price of course. :)

Also saw a poster advertising Avatar in 3D... not sure if it will be english soundtrack or not though.

totster :D

Be wary of Tops. I bought some fish there last week. Got home and it was off. Took it back. Profuse apologies and they gave me more than I'd bought in compensation but that's not the point. Not really good for a place that's been open for about a fortnight.

I bought a small amount of produce in Tops the other day. When I got home & removed it from the package, it was rotten under the label. Too far to go to take it back. It's the market only for produce from now on.

Wednesday is a good day for the cinema. They discount the tickets.

Regular price for 3D is 240 baht. Discounted, maybe 120, but not positive about that.

I tried the Fish Foot Massage the other day. It was definitely different.

Had a good visit, lots of (ok expensive) farang stuff in the Tops s'market, cheese counter, apple pie marmite, proper cheese bicuits, housmous dip, cumberland sausages etc,etc they sell waitrose branded goods tho' jelly babie seemed an odd selection.Better than Carrefour in Udon in my humble opinion.

There are alot of different restaraunts on(I think) the 3rd floor including a v tasty (of 2) sushi restaraunt - the one where things wizz around on a conveyor belt, mind you a bit cilly !

An Asia Books shop = english books & magazines.

They show english language films at the cinema (obviously!),took my wife along to see Avatar -lucky girl - tho' in 2D .. they had all the 3D signage up including a "collect your 3D glasses " desk ,on enguiry I was told they "might" be getting a projector! .. still v much enjoyed the movie and ,to my surprise,so did my wife.....

Recomend a visit !!! :)

Wednseday is movie day at the central plaza in khon kaen.it is only 70 baht to see all films in the normal seats this rises to 90 baht for a good seat.

monday and tuesday are also cheaper days to see a film in the region of 100 baht.

On any other day it is around 200/300 baht a viewing!

Also the best part of the central plaza in k k is the outside area especially in the evening! the store looks great lit up at night and you can watch the football and listen to live bands at the same time while service girls ply you with overpriced drinks.

tops is overpriced for farang produce but there are a few decent bakery shops near to the entrance to tops! and all the restaurants and food outlets are on the 4th floor.

I would like to hear what other members think of what this store has to offer, especially as big c and tesco are just down the road.....i think most farang in khon kaen will not be frequenting central that much and changing their shopping habits.

The best part of central,in my opinion is the many fine looking ladys working their and the air-con :)

Surely the fact that they actually apologised AND replaced your purchase plus extra is rather impressive in my opinion (for Thailand anyway!)

Re cinema. "On any other day it is around 200/300 baht a viewing!"

The only time it's that much is for 3D, regular price 240฿, or if you buy tickets for the special 'love seat' seating.

Do they still have the dinosaurs walking around or was that one day only?

No, they were around for a week or two as part of the opening festivities but they're gone now ! There's a Disney themed display in that area for kids day at present and it was swarming with the little tikes today :) !

The farang produce is overpriced in comparison to which other outlets ? As far as I know it's the only place to buy some of this produce in the locality ? The salad bar is certainly much better than any other in town.

It probably won't change my shopping habits too much but mostly because parking is currently a nightmare. However I'm certainly pleased to have more choice.
