Skin Reaction To Water In Ubon

Featured Replies

My partner seems to get bad acne/sores from showering in our home in Ubon but it goes away immediately when she goes to BKK. Doctor guessed there might be more chlorine in BKK water and hence cleaner. Anybody have similar experience?

Is there a filter I could attach to the shower head or a cheap way to filter the source? thanks

I live in Ubon and do not have the described problem.

do you draw from a city water line directly, or a well / water tank? some properties deep in the soi or far from the main city water-line normally have tanks or a well which may have contaminants if not treated.

did you try testing your water for chemicals?

I live in Ubon and have always suffered from Exzema and dry / senstive skin. I find when I shower in water from our well, it gets worse, but when showering with rain water which we collect in a large concrete tank I am much better.

Much of the Issan region has high content of dissolved salt in groundwater due to thick layer of evaporites forming this basin. When I lived in Oklahoma has a similar situation, and almost all homes had a water softener. I bought a house in N-central OK without such and suffered similar to what you described, then installed a water softener and that fixed the problem. Also helped with soap use and the laundry. Just had to add some new salt to the unit every now and then (that's for the ion exchange process). Suggest you look into this as a possible answer.
