On Sunday Afternoon at the Cesar Palace Hotel in Central Pattaya, Police Major General Tanaert, the Provincial Police Commander chaired a meeting of local Police and volunteers who were joined by local Hotel Operators and Motorbike Taxi Drivers to discuss a security operation for New Year Eve. Over 600 Police Officers and Volunteers from Pattaya Police, the Marine Police and Tourist Police will be on patrol on New Years Eve. Suspicious packages are a high priority for Police who have asked members of the public and Police Volunteers to report any packages to either the Police emergency number 191 or the Pattaya City Call Center 1337. Under no circumstances should you touch the package before professional help arrives. Police Checkpoints will be set-up around Pattaya to check vehicles, drivers and passengers for anything untoward. Random breath tests will also take place at these checkpoints. Refuse bins will be removed from around Pattaya apart from Walking Street and the Bali Hai Port but at these areas, officers will be assigned to guard the bins. Overall, the General would like to reassure tourists and residents that everything is being done to keep Pattaya safe over the New Year period but he also asked for everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
