Internet Access At Chiangrai (maesai)

Featured Replies

hi, i travel to maesai very often and have a house there, but i got problem applying for internet access to my house, i had tried TNT & CATS but they told me my house is too far away from the main road to fixed the internet to my house. So i brought a usb sim adpater costs 2300baht to tried using the mobile internet edge by 12call. The speed is really to slow for my work, i wonder is there any other solution? CATS offer me the 3G CDMA mobile usb but i am not sure is the speed fast enough for me, the set costs 7000bahts plus, i need a good review on it before i buy the set. Anybody have solution for me? Thanks

CAT CDMA service is delivering just over 1MB/s fairly steady all over Phuket. I expect it would be similar in most places that they offer, including Chiang Rai area. The signal quality, thus speed, very much depends on distance to the transmitter and obstructions, so you need to verify the actual speed where it will be sited. CAT policy here on Phuket is that you can contract the service and then drop it the same day before they close books, all with no penalty. So sign up in the morning, run the test at your place and if OK keep it, otherwise return before 16:00 on same day. You can only get the USB modem at CAT offices, do not buy from anybody else because the modem has to be linked into the CAT system by the techs at the office.
