All I'm reading on this thread (except for cdnvic) is that you barracked for one team and then moved onto another team.

This usually comes from people who don't really follow AFL that much.

I can't see how you can do it.  If I hear this from someone that I'm talking to my perception of them drops decidedly.

I've been following the Tigers from when I was around 5 years of age (thats as far back as I think I can remember anything).  I have seen Premerships won and lost and I've felt misery for around 22 years whilst we have been down the bottom of the ladder.

Through thick and thin.  That's what loyalty is.  None of this "I used to follow this team and now I follow that team..." trite.

in WA we didnt have a local AFL/VFL team to follow so we followed an VFL team as well as a team in the WAFL.

But now we have 2 teams in the national comp so we follow our local AFL teams... I still support West Perth in the WAFL and have done for 30 odd years. But when the Eagles were formed I went for them...New teams needs supporters too.

I support two teams, the mighty Cardinals (Falcons) of the WAFL, and the blistering Eagles of the AFL.

Reasons? My uncle used to play for the Cardies when ol' Polly was with em after he came back from over there, and the Eagles...well it needs no more explaination than that.

Carn the cardies, up the Eagles...

The Tribunal is a giggle, Eagle gets reprimand for giving a bunch of fives to a hawks crown jewels and a Saint gets two weeks for a push in the back ,(slightly understated ) :o

I've followed the Blues for the last 25 years, originally for no other reason than that the first game I watched was Blues v Bombers and my mate was a Bombers fan (we caught the train to Melbourne for the '83 grand final - he didn't enjoy the game much). Although a Sydneysider I have never jumped on the Swans bandwagon largely thanks to memories of Geoffrey Edelstein and Capper, who both still give me the creeps.

Lynch got the rep for a late charge

Matera got a week for a p*** weak punch to a hawk ala Gehrig style....the tribunal is getting P*** weak for those charges

Hunter is to face tonite for crown jewels...probably a week though...

good point, am sure it was eagles when I posted it.

Wonder if the link points to the wrong place.

I am going to edit it out now :o

Like most others here I support the Eagles and whoever is playing collingwood. (thanks Dockers for that 112 point thrashing on Sunday) Can't wait to see Ego Eddie on the Footy show on Thurs night.

I was bought up as a Cardies supporter, but had to play for Subi (lived in their recruiting district) so have three teams to follow.

This new tribunal is a joke : Hunter gets off for a punch to the goolies, Matera gets a week for the weakest punch ever thrown! The Hawks guy should get a suspension (or an award) for his performance when little Phil tickled his ribs.

Capper cant resist, he got up on a tv chat show the other week and told how he was using drugs while playing for the Swans. What a loser :o

Perhaps they should have contested for Matera too...but then he is down on form and no hope for a brownlow......... :D:D

What's creepy about pink cars?:o

Believe Capper had a career change, he had a brief stint (thanks to his old lady) at holding road signs – but was too incompetent. :D

An amazing game, 3 players injured in the first few seconds. Dermie bounced back, even though he pissed blood, and Dipper played with a broken rib and punctured lung. Ah, the good ole days when footballers were men. :D

Geelong Cats.

I was in Melbourne a couple of years ago and wanted to buy one of those "stubby holders". The only ones they had left were Geelong.

They seem to start a season well then are crap.

I saw one Grand Final in 1993, can't remember who was playing. Anyone know?

I think it might have been Collingwood, or another one starting with C??

maybe it was Richmond. Must admit I was more interested in the Victoria Bitter.

Power  :o  :D

Me The Dockers

Followed South Fremantle, played as a kid and and a teenager

sold the Daily News at the South Freo oval would jump the the train to East Fremantle when they clashed with a 150 papers on a Saturday afternoon poached the territory.

Best full contact athletic game in the world.

Enough of us for 2 teams is there? Plus a proper ball not a rugby ball.

Barry Curtis was an icon to me when he got selected for the VFL.

Great that WA has representation now.

Definately WA's sport of choice followed I would think by cricket.

Lacrosse was a big sport for us at school too and no swimming lessons in the pool in the surf baby South Beach.

What a great place to grow up or out. Take your pick. Funny how the street smarts from all those years ago help in the military when stepping ashore in new locations and still apply today like handling money in public.

Were we born with a footy? I actually cannot remember us ever not having a footy in the house, the car. We were always playing or kicking the ball.

3 brothers and 2 sisters probably why the girls were good at net ball we would practice running the paddock running in a line bouncing and hand ball between us.

And Freo broke a 10 game losing streak at the Cardinia Oval today.

For me the Eagles - Perth boy and all that. Don't get to follow it much being where I am, but the afl website helps.

Outstanding win by WCE today....

I always supported Claremont in the WAFL when I was in school, went to as many games as I could on weekends.

Maybe the OP could turn this in to a poll??

It was Essendon v Carlton. Essendon won.

The last time the Tigers were in a Grand Final was back in 1982 (I'm very sorry to say) :o

I have never really followed AFL and dont think much of the players when theyre on the piss either, but do recognize that an AFL grand final is a great sporting event to watch! :o

West Coast...2 point winners over Richmond.....unstoppable  :D  :D  :D

Eagles lookin good, but interesting to see how the big fella,s handle a wet track, its easier for a good little man to jump up than a good big man to bend down. :o

That is the strength of the Eagles.....Cox and Gardi are very skilful at ground level...but also the small guys step up when the big guys are hamstrung....They have the second highest scoring rate and yet not one player in the top 15 goal scorers. Look at Matera....done stuff all this year and then boots 5 when it is needed.

Port look like there clutching at straws now ,the Shattock hit on Ball was a pre-conceived plan to take out the Saints playmaker, reminded me of the Mark Yeates hit on Dermie all those years ago,and like Dermie, he came back.
