I Like Brit's And Aussies Because.

This thread will not turn into one in which we feel as though we must defend ourselves or our country :)

Oh, and fish and chips.

The Beatles and Olivia Newton John when she was a young hussy. :)

Because Brits are my ancestors

One Brit TV member introduced me to cornies.

Roast beef and real yorkshire pudding.

Being invited to the Sydney VFW by a couple of guys who saw my short hair and figured I was a Marine.

And as I posted in the NZ thread, my buddy and I had a fantastic couple of days with two Aussie girls at Mt. Hut in New Zealand.

Jaguars--a pain in the but for maintenance, but boy, what a fun car to drive.

Inventors of the best game in the world:  RUGBY

I like Brits & Aussies because I can more or less understand what they are saying although some accents take a little getting used to. And for the most part that's a good thing. :)

I like Brits & Aussies because while they might take the piss out of each other and out of Americans in the end, like family, we have each other's back.

I like Brits because they seem to be good at organizing things. I was at a recent local event/meeting run by Brits and it reminded me of the British officers in the movie, Bridge Over the River Kwai. They just seem good at it.

I like Aussies because they're a wild & crazy bunch - Jacko, Crocodile "that ain't no knife" Dundee, Steve "Crikey!" Irwin, Aussie Rules, swimming despite all the sharks (ever see that video of the guy jumping into the water and catching a shark in his arms?), surfing, going walkabout, etc.

I like Brits because they provide some of the best villians and smartasses on American TV - Simon Cowell, Hugh "House" Laurie, Tim "Lie to Me" Roth, that rude chef from hel_l's Kitchen.

I like Brits & Aussies because some of the most popular American actors in Hollywood today are actually Brits & Aussies (shhh, don't tell John Q. Public).

I'm trying to work out why this isnt two seperate threads?

Does the OP think Brits and Aussies are the same?

:):D

Well we were at one point, until we shipped our crim's down under.  :D

(Just had to add that obligatory response)

That's something else I like about the Aussies. Being able to trace your roots back to the original criminals is prestigious. Only the Aussies could pull that one off. :D

Whoop's. I can see Harcourt looming and I forgot to add the Kiwi's.

I like kiwi's because: Jedi's are cool.

And the obligatory response to that..... Yeah, the petty crims were transported, the starving wretches that stole a penny's worth of bread.....the worst crims, the rapists and murderers, remained to breed the next generation of wicked crims, and so their ancestors remain. :D

The guy who plays Doctor House and Jacs on Sons of Anarchy are my two favorite "secret" ones. Russell Crowe is not so secret,

Nothing against the wonderful climate in jolly ol' England, but they might have been better off to move the kingdom down under, make the old country the penal colony and leave them to fight it out with the French, Spanish, Americans and later the Germans while enjoying the warmer climate and the relatively easy-pickings of nearby lands and natives. They probably would have been able to get to California & more before the Americans as well. If only it were so easy. :)

Except that Crowe is from New Zealand.

'Jimmy Mcnulty' from 'The Wire' (real life Dominic West) was born in Sheffield and went to Eton - the poshest school in England. 'Stinger Bell' (Idris Elba) is from London.

Let's not get technical.

Jimmy on the Wire is most cool too, but I don't know know who Stinger Bell is.

Jimmy on the Wire is most cool to, but I don't know know who Stinger Bell is.

He's Avon Barksdale's lieutenant, the one who attends business classes.

BATMAN is about as American as it gets. But if you see the first Batman movie with Christian Bale ("Batman Begins"), Just about all the main characters except for Morgan Freeman and Katie Holmes are Brits - Bale (Batman), Michael Caine (Alfred), Liam Neeson (the main villian), Gary Oldman (Det Gordon), and Tom Wilkinson (another villain). I guess it was revenge for casting Kevin Costner as Robin Hood. Sorry 'bout that one.

I like Brits because some of the nicest people I have ever met have been Brits and some of my best friends are Brits. ditto for Aussies.

I like the UK because the scenery is spectacular, the people were lovely and friendly and the beer is great.

Haven't been to Oz, but will make it there eventually. :)

Roast beef and real yorkshire pudding.

Oh yes !

totster :)

Olivia Newton John

Best of both worlds, Brit born & raised in Os

Wait until you see Russell Crow as Robin Hood in an upcoming remake. :)

With another Aussie, Cate Blanchett, as Maid Marion.

Brits - masters of television comedy series.

Aussies - masters of packaging bloody awful/woeful/dreadful soaps made on a shoestring and selling them to the Brits.

Ha.

Eastenders and Home and Away is something that I DO NOT miss about blighty.

I was a bit of a fan of Prisoner cell block H though..... "He used to give me roses"

'Stringer Bell' (Idris Elba) is from London.

This one killed me.  I love the show, and I was so used to his Baltimore street hood voice, that when I heard him being interviewed on PBS radio in his "normal" voice, it just about blew my mind!

The BeeGees too.

They hardly fall into the music category. ACDC is a better example.

Yeah, I hesitated to mention them.....but the fact fitted.
