I guess this has been asked a thousand times ? So 1001 is not going to make much difference?

What is the night life like in Chiang Rai? Are there good quality restaurants? Can someone recommend somewhere central to stay for a few nights, (budget 1,000-1,500 a night).

At the moment I am in Chiang Mai so getting there is not a problem/issue (I think ) I intend to use the bus service unless someone advises me of a better alternative.

nightlife? depends on what your flavor is.

if youre on the younger side theres a complex of bars behind par club... more of a 20 something crowd... with a few bars in there that us mid life guys will feel ok at, live acoustic etc....

if you prefer something a bit more roguish/farang orientated, there are a few bars on the entrance road to the night bazaar...

a big disco par club exists if u like that...

a few other smaller disco type places on the road to par club...

and a few thia acoustic places scattered around town..

We had a pretty heavy topic on this not long ago that degenerated into name calling and a debate on the ethics and causes of prostitution. I personally don't want to go down that road again but it won't be hard to find. Early December?
