Pattaya 24th January2010[PDN] At approximately 5.50am Police Captain Satiphol Phoowadolkanog (Pattaya Police Investigator) received a report from a Police Volunteer, that a man had been apprehended in connection with the robbery of a Canadian tourist at View Talay Condominium, Pratamnuk Hill, Moo 12< Nongprue, Banglamung.

One man arrested as Canadian is robbed outside condominium

In the early hours of Sunday Morning, Mr. Ammad Wazire Bhatti aged 35 from Canada was confronted by two men, one of them armed in front of the View Talay Condominium located on the Tappraya Road in Jomtien. One of the two men, produced a gun which Mr. Bhatti identified as a fake weapon. However, he had already handed over 20,000 Baht and a mobile phone and was intent on regaining possession of the items. Mr. Bhatti decided to fight the two men, and at one point, used a plank of wood. Both suspects jumped on their motorbike and attempted to escape, however Police Volunteers were nearby and saw what was going on and managed to apprehend one of the two suspects, Khun Saranyar aged 37 who was not in possession of the stolen items. Police Officers soon arrived and arrested the man, who had been beaten by the angry volunteers. Despite this, he was sent to the Police Station and charged with robbery and use of the fake firearm.
