Remember Anita Pallenberg?

She was Keith Richards' girlfriend way back when. Her rock 'n roll lifestyle has taken its toll...

Had to google her.. but c'mon camerata..shes 66. Give the lady a break! Even most young and beautiful women can look exceedingly crap when they havent fixed themselves up, are in bad light, and the camera isnt kind. Im sure even at the age Ms Pallenberg is now, she likely cleans up well.

Thing is, there are other 66 year olds out there that have fared much worse than she has, but who have lived a much safer conservative lifestyle. At least the lady had adventures.

Found these pics, which are a least a little more kind, even if time hasnt been so good to her. Looks like she hasnt gone down the plastic surgery route either..good for her. Anyway..has anyone taken a look at Keith RIchards lately..lol.

True true.

Awesomeness in my opinion is also my Aunt, who i was shocked to discover is now in her 70's yet still stunning as ever. Its all natural too! My aunt has never been near a doc for anything, nor even the beauty salon. Nivea cream, thats all.

I believe Meryl Streep is also a non-surgery lady. Im not against surgery however, just dont like seeing the seriously overdone plastication that often happens, giving people an unnatural look. Some people just dont have good genes, or their lifestyle catches up on them. Some people are just plain lucky and keep looking great no matter what they do.

Yeah, well, I'm not that far off and I look like Robert Downey Jr (with less hair). It's the clean living...

Nice term. I like it :)

Whats worse, natural a la keith and anita as above or overdone plastication like say. Mickey Rourke, Kenny Rogers, Burt Reynolds?

Im not saying she looks great for her age. Im saying that even when someone does have a good lifestyle, sometimes they just dont have great genes and can still end up looking the same way (but sure, a clean living healthy lifestyle does help!). Im also saying, she probably had a whale of a time. SOme people live a safe lifestyle and grow old regretting they didnt do more. Looking good when old verses seizing life by the gahoonas and having some fantastic memories..well i know which one id rather have. Good on those however that are blessed with having lived life to the full and have still aged well!

She could easily go down the plastic surgery route too, making her look much better, but it seems she has chosen to be herself.

I think its a bit sad when people judge if a persons has aged well depending on their looks only. Aging well, imo, is a zest for life, and how contented and happy a person is.

Marianne Faithful has had a hard life as well under similar circumstances.

Her voice is great though, I've got one of her recent concerts on DVD.

Pfft! You call those horrors? Check out socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein who spent 2 million quid on her surgery, starting with trying to make herself look like a lion (her husband liked lions).

:) It comes from "Plastication of the Nation"..and i cant recall where i first heard that term (but its not used a term used for cosmetic surgery). Also, the barbie doll song "Plastic Fantastic". Plastication just seems like a nice neat term to apply to the obsession for cosmetic "enhancement" in todays world. God..even terms like "lunchtime lift". ..all makes the mind boggle really. I know im a sucker for it too..when time takes it toll, if i can subtly turn back time, then I confess im for it. However, surgical procedures scare the crap out of me! Im not sure i could ever do the face lift thing..but i guess i can only answer that honestly in 20 or so years from now.

I read about her years ago. Isnt it sad! I feel sorry for her, because thats gotta be some kind of body dismorphia. Same with Michael Jackson. Scary. :)

Urgh! I've seen her on tv. She makes the saying, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" all the harder to accept as a universal truth.

To the OP.....that latest photo of her....natural, without makeup or flattering lighting.....natural....she looks older than my grandad who will be 90 this year and never smoked.

(Though he was a passive smoker....my granma smoked (in the house, in the car...back in the day) until she died at 83).

..re Jocelyn Wildenstein, what you gotta wonder too, is what doctor in his right mind would actually do that to a person? If a person wants sex reassignment surgery, they have to go through stages first, including Psychological evaluation. Jocelyn should have had similar steps taken before anyone put her on the surgery table. There are some truly unethical doctors out there!

Edit: an written interview with Jocelyn Wildenstein: http://www.happywomanmagazine.com/Healthfi...wildenstein.htm says a lot really...

Too true, sbk. Meryl Streep was/is always one of my favorite actresses. She reminds me of a modern version of Katharine Hepburn. Katharine Hepburn was a stunning woman of presence right up to the day she died.

However, Camerata DOES have a point about the ravages of smoke, alcohol and drugs.

Carol Vorderman is 50 now, and my god how I would love for her to give me a constanant or two.

I'll have two from the top and one from the bottom! :)

Old people don't look good - period. Why make a point out of it?

Of course she looks better with a shower and some makeup, like anyone else.

Some of us need to grow up a little. :)

I've made the contentious point before General, that men invariably look better with age while women seldom do. It's nature's way and cannot be helped. :D

I'm 73 and I still look like Clint Eastwood (but then he's 78 - so maybe that's not the comparison I should reach for?)

Well - the hair-style is similar :D:)

Age wasn't the point. The point was that (like Keith Richards) Pallenberg looks more decrepit than she should because of the ciggies, alcohol and copious amounts of heroin. Compare her with Diane Keaton or Helen Mirren, both of whom have appeared in the nud_e in movies in the last decade.

Anyone remember Helen playing a 16-year-old in Age of Consent? :)

Take the makeup off and stick them in some funky clothes and I bet there would not be a big difference. They are all OLD! :D

In all honesty, i think this is something that men like to believe, but its not actually so. Just as there are few women who honestly look really great when they are old, there are few men. I dont know why men get it into their heads that they look great even when they get old. But, most men of all ages are quite complimentary to themselves (hmm..whilst being overly critical about women (of all ages)). I dont know what men see when they look in the mirror, but the reality of how they look is far different from their perceived movie star handsomeness. Thats natures way, and cannot be helped.

Thats a tad rude. and unnecessary.

Sure some old people look good, (Clint Eastwood is not one of them tho, I would like to add) but as eek pointed out, very few do. Add in, as camerata has pointed out, a wild drug and alcohol fuelled lifestyle and anyone is going to look bad.
