Unlicensed Cock Fighting Event Broken Up By Police

Featured Replies

Cock Fighting in Thailand is legal and has been taking place here since the mid 16th Century. Thailand has around 70 licensed Cock Fighting Venues, however unlicensed fights take place around the Kingdom, normally every Sunday. On Sunday, Police Lieutenant Colonel Manop from Banglamung Police Station received a tip-off that an unlicensed cock-fighting event was taking place in woodland close to the Maprachan Reservoir. It was thought that gambling was also taking place at the location, which is also against the law here in Thailand. Police arrived and detained 7 people who were thought to be the main organizers of the event. A total of 40 men were thought to have been at the location when Police arrived. An injured cockerel was found as was other equipment commonly used at such an event. The group were arrested and taken to the Police Station where they were charged with organizing an illegal cock fighting event and gambling.
