Best Mobile Network Dongle To Buy For Internet Access

Featured Replies

I travel around between Bangkok, Pattaya, Krabi, Phuket etc and often need to use my laptop for email and server maintenance access, (not for large file downloads/uploads).

I already have a True internet USB dongle, but this only works in Bangkok and Pattaya, even Phuket failed to provide network coverage.

I understand that dongles are also available for DTAC. Does AIS also offer these?

Which is the best network (with most coverage across Thailand), and best dongle/data plan for email/server (SHFTP) access from a laptop whilst sitting on a beach/in a bar??

Are there any other practical options for remote internet access? (I already use my iPhone with SHFTP application for 'emergency' server access)

Thanks

Simon

I use AIS... I have traveled around South Thailand, Bangkok, central Thailand etc... solid connection everywhere. It's not fast enough for Skype but works well for almost everything else. I pay 99 baht for 20 hours every month. The last time I checked they had an unlimited package for 1000 baht. I'm actually shopping around for other alternatives for unlimited access for cheaper. Anyone know of any?

I purchased a generic dongle which I can slide my Sim card into if I want to use my Internet connection for my computer.

Any generic USB GPRS/EDGE dongle will take both AIS and Dtac simcards.

About 2,000 Baht (made China but works well enough). Should by the way also work just fine with your True simcard!
