Politically Motivated Pylon Protest In South Pattaya

On Tuesday Afternoon, Police and Rescue Services were called to an electric pylon located on the Sukumvit Road in South Pattaya to deal with a man who had climbed the pylon and was sitting inches away from live cables. Initially it was thought that this was a suicide bid but it was soon discovered that his actions appeared to be politically motivated. The electric was quickly cut and it was safe for rescuers to approach and rescue the man who was in possession of papers which stated his demands which included an audience with the Pattaya Mayor, Khun Itipon and the Prime Minister, Khun Abhisit. The man was identified as Khun Chaibrapa, a former member of the dissolved Thai Rak Thai Party who wanted to see the Thai Parliament dissolved amongst other demands. Eventually the man realized he would not get his wishes and agreed to come down from the pylon. He was unharmed and handed over to the Police for questioni
