How Much To Live In Thailand?

Featured Replies

I visited Thailand 12 years ago and thinking of moving there as I missed it and am now divorced. Could you be so kind to tell me how much I need to to live in Thailand? How bout the cost of a a movie ticket, dinner at a fast casual Western restaurant, rent for a one bedroom apartment near the skytrain, beer at a bar, taxi from the airport to Sukhumvit ?

Everybody has different lifestyles. The question may be how long is a string? But we will give it a go. Some expats get by with 20,000 Baht per month and some spend 200,000 Baht per month or even more.

Movie Tickets on average are 120 Baht ( around $4.00)

Dinner with a drink at Duke's

www.dukesbangkok.com/ or Sunrise Tacos www.sunrisetacos.com would be around 210 Baht- 300 Baht ( $7.00 - $10.00)

Rent could be as low as 8,000 Baht (but in most all cases not near the skytrain or lower Sukhumvit.) For lower Sukhumvit you would be looking at least 20,000+ Some apartments would be around 30-40,000 Baht. Check out

Beer at a pub will run around 70 Baht to 150 Baht ( $2.00-$5.00)

Taxi will run around 210-250 Baht (7.00-8.00) including the tolls from the airport to Sukhumvit
