I haven't played golf for nearly 4 months now, I've tried physio, ultrasound, accupuncture, and had a cortisone injection, all to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me ? Thanks

Have you tried some Norgesic? It is an over the counter muscle relaxant. Give that a whirl and maybe buy a wrap around elbow brace, like a Futuro spiral lift, they come in different sizes, so make sure you get the right size.

If is the same as what is commonly called "tennis elbow" then the only thing that I have ever heard that works is a small band that goes around the tendon between your wrist and elbow and when pulled tight prevents the tendons from pulling on the elbow socket

Unfortunately I don't know if they are available in Thailand

Have had it on a a couple of occasions and has been relieved/temporarily cured by deep tissue massage from a very good masseuse.

Usually have to get a pummeling every 2/3 months but just one or two sessions works for me. I have found the problem is not just in the elbow but linked to the whole nervous? system on my right side, that is very obvious when the masseuse gets to work from the pains in my right leg and shoulder and thigh.

Golfer's elbow is often caused by areas of small scars in the muscles that are involved in turning the arm (pronators and supinators) and also in keeping it from being turned (think back to the instructions from your golf teacher). The shock wave from impact (more noticeable when hitting a tennis ball) travels along the structures and can cause a few fibers to be torn in certain places. The bands used for this problem limit the shock wave and it's effects. After a while there is a 'mat' of fibrous scarring that is again torn when you let the soreness subside and try hitting the ball again. Ultrasound can help but skillful massage therapy by a well trained practitioner is a more specific remedy. The general type of therapy is usually called 'sports massage' and the actual tecnique used is DTF - Deep Transverse Friction. You could contact me directly for the info on the one practitioner I know in Thailand or maybe try the Osteopathic clinic in Bangkok for a referral. Better trained therapists or ones specializing in this kind of work who could probably help you can be found more easily in North America and the UK.
