Looking For A Decent Place To Live In Bangkok

Featured Replies

I moved to Bangkok from the bayarea approximately a month ago. I am currently seeking a new place to live, preferrably a nice place, close to places to eat, perhaps on lower sukumvit or in that area.

It has to have AC, and be fairly nice. I welcome any advice/recommendations/referrals or any information on prices and locations and how to go about this.

Thanks in advance.

The most important question here is how much do you want to spend each month ?

I am willing to pay up to 15k BAHT a month, but I want the place to be nice. Price isn't as important to me as how nice it is as well as the location.

You say "It has to have AC, and be fairly nice" and "Price isn't as important to me as how nice it is as well as the location".

Seems to me that there is a contradiction in your requirements.

15K a month which is to include AC and to be fairly nice is probably unrealistic. :)

Lower Sukhumvit and nice in the same sentence?

Curious why you think you need to live on Sukhumvit?

Living on sukumvit is not a requirement, not sure why friend told me add that. So 15k a month including AC and fairly nice is not possible? My friend who has lived here over 4 years told me otherwise...

I think that you can find a decent place with that budget. But have to make some concessions. I pay 15K/month for a two-storey townhouse with 3 b/r and office room, all 4 of them with A/C, and two bathrooms, balcony front and back, giant kitchen, parking for 2 cars, and laundry room. The catch? It's in Phra Khanong (almost Bangna). For me comfort at home is more important than BTS at walking distance. Right in front of my village there is a fresh market and countless street food vendors, and Central Bangna is just a motorcycle hop away.

In the Bangna area I'm sure that I would never be able to get a fraction of that.

Keep on looking and make sure you know your priorities!

Hello,

I am a broker/agent and I would like to refer to you some of the properties I have on hand.

By the way, please let me know your specifications:

Number of bedrooms, bathroom, area of the property, furnished or not and the budget as well.

Please let me know and I am very happy to assist you on this.

Regards,

Bryan

Hi there ! Check mrroomfinder.com - best website for finding rentals! You can easily find a rental for 10K meeting your requirements as long as you stay away from the major tourist areas! good luck!

I appreciate the responses. Bryan, whats the best way to contact you?

Try Yada Condo on Suk 39. Good location, and should be able to get something around 15k. Go there and ask the guy behind the desk.

Hello,

That money will go along way, anyone telling you otherwise (really do i need to spell it out). I have actually visited the apt below, did not take as I wanted separate living, sleeping quarters (Living room separated from bedroom).

Side Note: Thousands of empty, nice apts. for rent in Bangkok. Just gotta get out and about to see them.

:)

Op do you speak thai? If not, living a long way out from expat area will be difficult and lonely.

Plenty of nice places at that price around Bangkok - just wont be in the CBD / Sukhumvit areas.
