After nearly 3 years the battery is due for a change...

Now, I've heard of people changing the battery before and the fob losing it's settings, so then they have to visit the dealer and get it reset.

I'm a bit reluctant to open it and change the battery in case that happens, then I'll have to open the car door the old fashioned way by actually putting the key in the lock and turning it... heaven forbid!

If it's a Toyota, just open stick a new battery in. If another make specify.

There's a clue in the header, Mitsubishi Triton.

Replaced my fob battery recently, opened it up and stuck the new one in no problem.

The big question now is where the hel_l do you find a CR1616 watch-type battery on Koh Samui!?... 8 D

Well your local Mitsu dealer should have one but then if you go there you may as well ask them to replace it at the same time LOL.

How about trying one of the car assessory shops, possibly they may have one in stock.

Took it apart yesterday, it's easy enough but couldn't find a battery. I'll try the dealers today. I need to go because my Airbag light came on the other day... Maybe it's the fuse?

I'll try BigC... I went to the dealers yesterday and both of their new batteries were dead (tested with voltmeter) straight out of the packet.

The Airbag sensor was faulty, replaced it yesterday 1,600 Baht.

It's very interesting, you'd think it would be at the front of the car in the engine compartment of something, but it's not. It's actually in the steering wheel. It's circular module. You have to take the steering wheel off to fit it. Problem solved.... However, still don't want to ever "test" the airbag!

All I can say is thank god for the computers these cars can be plugged in to. The mechanics plugged it in and two minutes later it told them to replace the Airbag Sensor, no thinking required.... phew!

These guys once changed my oil without changing the oil filter... For me that's a big no, no... they were pretty pissed when I made them change it again with a new oil filter (was only about 150 baht!) I always watch what they do when they work on my car.

My only concern is if something major goes, like clutch or gearbox, not sure if these guys would be capable of changing them out... or what standard of job they would do!

However, I have to be honest they were decent with me. My brake pads were squealing a bit. I thought they were down to the metal. They took them off and showed me them compared to a new set, they were only half worn so didn't need replacing. Very decent of them. They didn't charge me either.
