Which Band For Thailand?

Featured Replies

I want to buy a mobile handset in the UK for use in Thailand with Thai SIM card. Should I buy a dual-, tri-or quad-band handset? Thanks.

Has details of the bands used around the world.

IIWY I would get a triple, 'twill work almost anywhere :o:D

Not sure I'd bother with a quad (I have a triple, bought here).

Thailand uses GSM 900, 1800 and 1900. The UK uses GSM 900 and 1800 so a regular dual band UK phone should work.

But, mobiles are reasonably cheap here and there is a danger that a UK phone will be locked to a particular provider (less likely these days, but if you get a good deal on a handset you may find you have a problem when you try to use it here).

That said, unlocking is possible and reasonably priced.
