I am South African citizen working in Saudi. I plan to bring my thai wife to stay with me. Anyone know how relations are between Thailand and Saudi? Will Saudi issue visa for my wife? Anyone who has his Thai wife in Saudi currently?

Please advise...

Relations have been less than ideal since the theft some years ago of jewelry that was never returned. But do not believe it will prevent a visa for your wife. The following warning however from airline site:

Housemaids or wives travelling

unaccompanied, joining their husband, must:

-  be met at the airport by sponsor or husband; and

-  have confirmed onward reservations up to their final

  destination in Saudi Arabia.

  Non-compliance may result in deportation

You need to get the Thai marraige certificate translated at the Thai consulate (certified translation) and then it needs to be authenticated by the saudi ministry of (i think) Foreign Affairs

You also need a letter from your employer in Saudi cause they have to add your wife in your ikama unless she comes only for a short visit in which case you still need the letter of your employer but no need to change your ikama after she arrive.

Best would be to accompany her when she departs from Bangkok.

The marriage cert needs to be stamped and translated by the Thai ministry of Foreign affairs and you'll need a Arabic translation but your company mandoub can sort that.

Don't foregt her Abaya and make sure she puts her watch backwards for the time different. 300 years should do it

Thanks guys,

I was aware about the theft of jewelry story. It seems I have it all covered: Marriage papers certified by Thai Foreign Ministry, attested and stamped by Saudi Embassy in Bangkok, Company letters etc. Actually I have my wife in Bahrain already, she is waiting there at my appartment for the visa. So I will go and fetch her there once my visa is ready.

I had to smile about the story of setting her watch back 300 years...

:D

Thanks!
