Proposal To Use Don Muang As Hub For Low Cost Carriers

Featured Replies

Why ,do we continually seem to be re-inventing the wheel ?

The proposal if implemented will cause international travellers a nightmare ,as we need a frequent feeder service from domestic services to international routes (even although Air Asia do not interline)

Thai International are cutting back on domestic services ,so we need Air Asia at Suvarnabhumi.

They seem to change their thinking regularly about Don Muang. One minute it's going to close for good, then used as a budget and/or charter terminal, then a domestic only terminal so you never know what to expect.

Two other low-cost carriers, Nok Air and One 2 Go use Don Muang so it does make economic sense to use it for Air Asia as well. Air Asia are always looking to cut costs and if they get offered a good deal then I am sure they would move. They would lose some business from connecting flights but then they may themselves operate a much-needed reliable bus between the two airports.

With the budget airlines it is mostly about price but I personally would not use the two different airports if I had an international connection on another airline.

^But Nok Air and One2Go don't fly international anymore so if Air Asia move to DM they'll have to set up customs and immigration posts too.
