What do you mean by large?

Hits per hour, heavy applications, geographical distribution, content amount or visual design effort etc?

You need completely different kind of people if the visual design effort is large compared to if the application is heavy or complicated to write or if you need consultancy in website usability.

Not hits / hour or heavy applications but lots of content. The website is already designed by a European company, we'd just like to transfer the maintaining of it over here.

It has a "back door" system for us to upload docs to it which needs to be fixed / maintained.

Maybe try www.entergraph.com/ they do website work for me. Very reliable and they know what they are doing.
