Its still pretty slack that we only have 14 CPUs active within last 50 days.

Well, it seems that this team has not expanded a lot, with only 8 Active CPUs within 50 days.

But I must say that the ones which are active, are doing a good job. Ranking 1163 with only 8 users, it's quite good.

Yeah, especially when those 8 Active CPUs are owned by fewer than 8 people.

I thought that the people of Thai Visa would have backed this worthwhile project, especially considering that it costs nothing to participate, and helps in medical research which one day may help in discovering cures for many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes.

If you are now reading this and think that you would also like to participate then have a look at http://folding.stanford.edu/

If you don't understand something then please feel free to ask questions.

The project is run by Stanford University. It just uses some of your unused computer cpu cycles to perform calculations.

Pyh ha.. I did click that link and here's what i got as the header of that page (the body text, admittedly unread):

"Our goal: to understand protein folding, misfolding, and related diseases".

I won't question the reasons of bringing a three month's old thread to live... and I won't question the importance of making the content of that old and long time gone thread world wide known.... but I do question the marketing skills of the guys, trying to make that zombiea live... How about making a new OP with some sort of telling headline (so that we few, who are not interested in "protein folding, misfolding, and related diseases", can surf on by?

The research project will help to understand the workings of cancer, Alzheimer's disease and Hutchinson's. For any of us who have lost family members to any of the above, the importance seems pretty clear.

Especially since you can set the priority of the application to almost nothing and still contribute, slowly but surely. (My Folding@home runs at 15% of my total available CPU, which is fine).

I have been doing the Protein Folding Project via the World Community Grid. Is there any way to contribute the points generated via that grid to the Thai Visa Team? I have not joined a team yet. The WCG is also doing a project which is searching for Aids therapies. It lets you choose whether to contribute computing time to just one project or both.

Unfortunately no, but you can allocate all of your future points to the team. We are team 33481
