28 Days On Existing Visa

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the rule of having 21 days left on existing visa in order to change visa status is still the case. I was told by an immigration officer today that you now only need 7 days remaining of visa on arrival in order to change it to a non B. I am not sure about this as all the information I have read seems to indicate that you still nedd to have 21 days left of you stay in order to change.

The only visa status change I'm aware of is for getting a non-immigrant "O" in preparation for a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai or retirement. The 7 day remaining part has never been posted on ThaiVisa, it would be something new if confirmed. I could be wrong on both points.

There have been a few reports on here that the 21 days might not be strictly adhered to anymore.

Nothing official though.

Sorry in the heading I put 28 days I did of course mean 21. The reason I asked this questions is that i had an informal talk with an immigration officer outside of work hours. He is a relative of a co-worker and he told me that the 21 days was not adhered to anymore. But of course can not be sure unless officially stated.

We have had several recent reports with 7, 10 and 15 days all being mentioned so it appears to be less than 21 now in at least some cases.
