I didn't think it done this if you have a thai sim could anyone shed any light on this, many thanks.

The SIM card account is charged at a high rate when receiving calls from outside Thailand. Just don't talk long and maybe use one of the internet phone bits since they're free or almost free.

I don't recall ever being charged for incoming calls except when roaming. Seems a bit odd, where are you calling from OP?

Do you know which network dad is using?

I've never been charged for receiving international calls.

Yeah, when making calls using 001 it's extremely expensive (I've been charged up to 60baht/min). If I use 009 it's about 5baht/min to call the US).

Better yet, use Skype to make international calls. Skype to Skype is free. Skype to a land line (Skype Out) in the US is about 2 cents per/min. Talk all you want and enjoy! Skype to a landline/mobile in Thailand is about 3 baht/min.

What a load of rubbish !! I don't know of anyone who has been charged for incoming calls be it national or international unless (as mentioned earlier) you are roaming (abroad). As the OP's father has a Thai sim and, presumably, still in Thailand then roaaming does not apply! Fact! ^_^

One note worth mentioning though, if said father is near the border and has network settings to automatic and not manual then it is possible he could have looged onto a cell site in a neighbouring country and be charged at a roaming rate. It has been known for this to happen in Dover (uk) and people looging onto networks in Calais (france) and vica-versa without evan leavin said countries.:shock1:

Another possibility could easily be user error although this is hard to confirm as nobody admits to getting it wrong lol. Could quite easily have connected to WAP or not locked keys and making calls without knowing whilst phone is in pocket.

just some possibilities to bear in mind lol:wai:

If your TGF has all the answers, and seemingly you are listening to her; why are you posting this question??????
