Detecting Proxy Settings

Hi all

When I try to connect to the internet it takes 5 mins trying to detect my proxy settings "what are they?" But When I in my pc works well. Also microsoft is recommending down loading service pack 2 any thoughts on that.

Detecting proxy server means your computer is looking for the computer which shares internet to your computer. In your Tools-> options of internet explorer go to connections - lan settings, you will find "Automatically detect Proxy settings" enabled... You will have to get the IP addr of the comp which shares internet for your computer and add it "Use Proxy Sever" tab with port =80 (normal cases)... chk with ur system admin or ISP for details on the IP addr of the proxy server..
