Someday in the next 500 years, gay marriage will be legal in Thailand. Supposing it was legal NOW. Would you take advantage, or not?

Another thing to consider, being legally married here adds another attractive VISA option with lower financial requirements than others. So like anywhere else when people decide to marry, there are romantic and also economic/practical considerations as well. Of course we don't have this choice, but it would be nice to have the choice.

Yes I would, but I am not sure about my partner.

He is still in the closet to all his friends at work.

My poll is not perfect but anyway, if you don't have a willing partner, it's not gonna happen, so your objection is pretty academic.

Of course there's always the downside. Divorce. Could be expensive!

JT left off at least two other answers - one probably deliberately:

I already have a Civil Partnership (home country)

I am already married (home country &/or Thailand)

While the absence of the Civil Partnership option was probably deliberate given JT's obduracy over the subject, the other option is certainly not uncommon for gays in Thailand (or, indeed, elsewhere).

Being married has many advatages, not only for visa options.

For example: If you apply for Permanent Residence, the fee is THB 171,000 for singles and only half for married people.

I am sure there are many other examples. How about income tax?
