jon Lech Johansen, more known under the nickname of "DVD Jon", placed this weekend on the internet (http: // nanocrew.net / blog/) a baptized program

"QTFairUse" who allows to by-pass the protections antihacking of " iTunes " of Apple, the most popular on-line musical articles department.

In practice, this software allows to diffuse free of charge on the internet a piece

of music downloaded from " iTunes " at the price of 99 cents the unity.

Since the debuts of " iTunes " in April, Apple sold about 17 million pieces of music on the systems Mac and Windows.

The new blow of brightness of "DVD Jon" intervenes while the young man has to appear, in appeal, in front of the court of Oslo on December 2nd within

the framework of his disputes with the powerful Hollywood association

Movie Pictures Association of America ( MPAA). The

MPAA accuses it of having invented - at the age 15 years - the DeCSS program, which allows to crack the module anticopy (CSS, Content Scrambling System)

films DVD, and to have allowed its distribution on the internet.

For his defence, "DVD Jon" declared that his only objective

consisted in allowing the reading of DVD on LINUX, competitor of the system Windows of Microsoft, and not to realize illegal copies or to diffuse them.

Last January, a county court had settled him but the prosecutor had appealed.
